That’s a wrap!!
The Freckled Fawn fresh flower sales for 2026 have come to an end for my farm. I’m currently stuck between tears of the end of another year and lighting a match (not really…they haven’t lifted Fire season yet😂)

I have learned more than my share this season about resiliency, quick pivoting, and trusting my instincts.
I think we can all agree that the weather this year has been less than ideal. I currently have plants blooming that should have done so in July and Dahlias that have yet to show a flower. I’ve also been pleasantly surprised by how well a few flowers did that never survived before.

My mind is swirling great ideas for the coming year, but I have many labor intensive days ahead. I’ll be tearing out the current growing areas, pulling up landscape fabric, digging dahlia tubers to divide and store, adding fresh compost and working it in.

I know that my flowers are not a necessity in your life, but every purchase is a priority in mine.
Thank you to those that chose my flower services for events, DIY weddings, personal celebrations, subscriptions, and all the Peter Pan Market purchases.

The last week of my flower season has arrived.
It’s not that I don’t have enough flowers, but with the upcoming change in weather temps, the quality won’t be there.
I will fill the buckets at Peter Pan Market on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for the final time in 2026.

Are you saving seeds for next year?
As flowers fade, we can forget which ones we want to keep. Some flagging tape and a permanent pen are all you’ll need to help you remember. All you have to do is label on the tape the name or color of the flower before the seeds are ready to collect.
There are many ways to store your seeds. I prefer an envelope or small paper bag, as plastic retains moisture and the seeds will mold. Once in the envelope, label it, and staple the flagging tape for extra assurance of keeping seeds organized.
Now, get out there and pick some seeds to save! 🌱

Clatsop County Fair is this next week and the kids need the buyer support at the auction!
With feed prices at an all time high, these kids, while learning great life skills, also need a good price per pound to just break even on their projects. They need your help to create funds for next year’s projects, school clothes, college savings, sports fees, and more.

I’ve been asked recently, “What makes your flower business different than the rest in the area?”
We have some thoughts, but put the question to some repeat customers and this is what the consensus was.

- [ ] Variety and Freshness.
Our flowers spend no more than 48 hours in the cooler before getting to their destination, keeping them fresh and local. We try to grow flowers that make each bouquet different. We incorporate little conversation flowers in bouquets to keep you learning.
- [ ] Stem Length.
We believe that longer stems give extra life to flowers. It gives you a chance to make a fresh cut each time while changing water (every 2-3 days), giving you up to two weeks per bouquet.
- [ ] Drying Ability.
We grow flowers that can be pulled from a fading bouquet and dried for another use. I use statice, poppy pods, drumstick, larkspur, gomphrena and more for this purpose.
- [ ] Communication.
We don’t hound you with emails, but reach out to subscribers and special orders by text, and Instagram and Facebook stories when fresh bouquets are available at Peter Pan Market. We also enjoy posting to give information on flowers (also on Instagram and Facebook).
- [ ] Gratitude for Customers.
We truly appreciate any flower purchases. We all know how expensive life is right now. Flowers fall into the Want, not Need category, but if our flowers can help make yours or your recipients day better, then we all win.

There are more than a few choices for flowers in our area and all growers are working hard. There are always obstacles each year, but buying local helps. Most of us are just putting it back into the community. We volunteer, donate, and try to buy from local shops and stands. I love that❤️

The front porch🩷
This is where the magic starts.
Where I’m covered from the rain, listening to the birds, and creativity can flow.
It’s also where the lists are made, the gardening info books are poured over (because there’s always more to learn), the schedules are done, and coffee is consumed.
As much as I’d love to sit here all day, I don’t. I just linger longer on Sundays😊
