Some beautiful spring sites around the farm. What a beautiful place this is in spring - I mean in summer- no wait! in the fall. Lol. Beautiful in every season. It will be so hard to let it go.

We are jumping into Springtime! Spring cleaning and weeding and trimming and clean up and and and .... but as always, after a few days of hard work, things are already looking so much better. We have to take a deep breath and remind ourselves that it is only mid-May and we have miles to go before we sleep. Still the spring bulbs are beginning to pop, the asparagus and rhubarb are waiting to be picked and the frogs are serenading us. Spring; somehow both miraculous AND annual.

To my Wisconsin friends and neighbors: the Senate will be voting today or tomorrow to rescind the 20 year copper nickel mining ban within the watershed of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. The proposed legislation also includes a prohibition on revisiting the legislation in future sessions ( something the Republicans are doing for the SECOND time). This mine is owned by Chilean billionaires and the raw materials mined will be sold directly to China. Copper nickel mining and a healthy water based wilderness simply cannot coexist. The cost of this mine WILL BE the Boundary Waters. Countless environmental and economic studies have shown that this mine will have negative and permanent effects on BWCAW and local communities. Call your Senators today and implore them to vote NO on the proposal to rescind the 20 year ban on copper nickel mining within the Boundary Waters Watershed.
