Throwback to 2018 when Plein Air Flowers started out as a small backyard urban flower garden and studio. I’m still not quite where I want to be with the business five years later. I’m working to save some startup capital and trying to work on the business plan on the weekends! My goal is to have it done by the end of the year. I miss flowering for you all though. Hang tight. Happy Fall equinox! 🍁 The day when the amount of daylight equals the amount of darkness. It has been such a beautiful transition from Summer to Fall here in the mountains and I have been soaking up every single ray of sunshine. Today was the first morning I had to start layering clothing though because of dropping temperatures and if you know me, I am full-heartedly resisting the end of Summer always because I hate being cold and hate when the days are short. This year though, I am trying to embrace the bounty and beauty as we fade into Fall. I made this little arrangement in remembrance of the joy and beauty Summer brings. RIP my favorite season 🥲

It has been a minute! I shared some updates on my story, but I’ve been quiet on here to take some much needed rest and to regroup. I’m cutting back on Plein Air Flowers offerings for the rest of the year to heal some physical injuries from overworking (Plein Air has been a side hustle for the past 5 years on top of a full-time job). It’s imperative that I write a business plan and plan to jump full-time into flowering for you all when the time is right. I’m hoping that time is just around the corner. I’m looking for a studio to operate out of (flower deliveries, pickups, weddings, events) and a house with land, so I can continue to focus on seasonal, locally and sustainably grown flowers.

Thanks for your patience as I take baby steps this year. I’m still taking on select weddings and floral arrangement deliveries and hope to be able to offer Winter Wreaths this December still. Please reach out to me if you know of studio space/retail space to rent in East or West Asheville. ❤️

For now, I am working full-time as a greenhouse and garden manager for a private family estate. I mostly grow vegetables, but I also grow and arrange flowers, plant flowers in the landscaping, and take care of decorative pots and chickens. It’s a beautiful place and a great family to work for. I'm working on slowing down and appreciating the little things but I hope that very soon I can be pursuing my love for growing and floral design full-time.

How is sweet pea season already over again? The thing I love about growing my own flowers to design with is being able to get them when wholesalers are telling me not to because they won’t last the transit. There’s something so sweet being able to enjoy the seasonality and being able to appreciate that these flowers got started in the Winter and didn’t bloom until early Summer. Most of the flowers growth is in the Winter when it doesn’t appear like it will bloom anytime soon. I’ve been resonating with that lately, thinking of all the growth that stems from patience, and persistence and that eventually every flower will bloom 💕

Catch us outside of tomorrow from 8 am - 12 pm with flowers for the moms in your life. You can still reserve a bouquet for pickup tomorrow (no more pickups for today) at pleinairflowers.com/shop (link in bio). The grab-and-go premade bouquets typically sell out quickly but we will have plenty of loose stems to make a bouquet on the spot for you. Tip: come right up to the flower stand to put your name in before hopping in line for the bakery.
