It has been months since I've posted on this page and so many things have changed that I barely know where to begin.
If you know, you know. If you don't, please feel free to message me for more information, especially if you feel the changes in my life are affecting you.
The short version of the story is that A Wardrobe in Time is taking a bit of a break. I, MaritaBeth, am still alive and well, and trying to catch up and complete projects already in process. I have, however, a new professional focus.
I am now the Head Costumer at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire and Mount Hope Estate. I was specifically chosen and offered this amazing, unique job opportunity to recreate and rebuild this department from the ground up, and with the blessing of friends and family, I took it.
It is a year round position, involving theatrical events during all four seasons. For the upcoming Renaissance faire season I am designing individual costumes, and designing the overall look of the cast of 90 actors, in keeping with their characters, all of whom have their costumes provided by the costume shop I direct. I have hired the staff of six people working under me, including a fellow designer I have admired for years, as my primary patterner and cutter. The shop is as complete a costume shop as any theatre company could want with hundreds of in stock costume items, supplies, and raw materials, multiple industrial grade machines, and an ample budget. My creativity is encouraged and I have yet to have any of my ideas ignored or disrespected.
I could not be happier, with one exception. My dear husband Kyle remains tethered to a good job in Texas. We will work this out, eventually, and be together once again, (come hell or high water!) but for now, phone calls daily are our lifeline through this first year.
Again, feel free to message me. And, by all means, if your travels bring you to the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire, please let me know... I would love to see you!
