I can’t believe it’s already been a year since this incredible day, and the day that would go on to become our first-ever Vogue feature.
From the very first time I met J + P, I completely adored them. Their story. Their love. And the vision they had for what they wanted their wedding day to feel like. Jason wanted the design to tell their story and feel unmistakably them. Patrick wanted the focus to be on the guest experience. Literally the perfect combination.
Throughout the planning process, every detail was considered. Every choice was intentional. But through all of it, they never lost sight of who they were or how they wanted that reflected in their day.
And then last night, J + P sent me a text from where it all began. Jason told me he still remembers the feeling of me holding the door, getting ready to open it for them, his heart pounding, and me asking, “Are you guys ready?!”. He then thanked me for being a part of their history.
And this. This is why I do what I do. Because as beautiful as the finished weddings are, it’s the moments like this that stay with me. This job can be hard. There have been plenty of tears, days I wondered if I could keep doing it, events I’ve missed, and days when I was completely exhausted but still had to show up and keep going.
But then there are couples like J + P. Couples who trust you with something so incredibly personal. Who let you into their story. Who become a little part of yours, too. And somehow, a year later, you’re standing in the same place where it all began, realizing just how much that day meant... and still means.
J + P, thank you for choosing me. Thank you for letting me be a part of your history. Thank you for giving me the honor of getting to know you both and for trusting me to bring your vision to life. And thank you for reminding me, a year later, just how special this work really is. I can still feel the energy that surrounded you both that day.
It was, and always will be, an honor.
