Todays newest couple popped in from the UK. They were on “Holiday”! My first international couple. They were so great…. I controlled my fake accent the entire time and kept it Cali-Texan. I love being able to meet so many amazing couples and hearing their love stories.

Did you know my favorite wedding ceremony to perform is Jumping the broom. I always try to make it a big celebration because I believe it was when it was all my ancestors had to symbolize their union. It’s like I can hear them all celebrating each time I ask the crowd to help me get them over the broom. It’s a magical moment.

I grabbed a picture today with a broom and bouquet created by . DALLAS Brides…. She is local and she also has an arch and decor that she set up at a wedding I did a few weeks ago. Outside of Texas?…. She will ship them.

Please get a broom that matches your big day. You can keep this forever and pass it down to your children.

Getting Your Marriage License

ID Requirements: In Texas, you will need one valid form of ID such as driver’s license, certified copy of your birth certificate, U.S. Passport, military ID, and your Social Security number.

Residency Requirements: Neither one of you have to be a resident of Texas.

Premarital Education: Is not required in the state of Texas.

Waiting Period in Texas: There is a 72 hours (3 days) waiting period in Texas. This can be waived for active duty military with your military ID.

Expiration Period: Do not obtain the license more than 90 days before the wedding. The license will expire on day 91 of the �issuance. I recommend getting it 2-3 weeks before the ceremony.

Blood Test: Not required in the State of Texas.

Fee: Approx. $85.00 fees (price may vary by county)

Your license is good in any county in Texas but can only be used in Texas.

No witnesses are required at the wedding in Texas.
