Here are some things we recommend doing as soon as he pops the question—& you say yes! Besides pop the champagne, of course! 🥂
1. Enjoy this engagement period! Soak it all in. There’s no need to rush from “we’re engaged!!” to “I need to plan a wedding tomorrow!” You’ll only have this sweet engagement period for a brief period of time; enjoy it.
2. Determine wedding timeframe and size. Having conversations surrounding time of year and how big you’d like your wedding to be will be so helpful once you start looking for your wedding planner, which leads us to…
3. Hire your wedding planner! Whether it’s comprehensive planning or month of coordination, your wedding planner will serve as a trusted resource of knowledge surrounding venues, vendors and budget guidance! We all know the calendars are jam packed with events, so you’ll want to be sure your planner is available for your date!
4. Lock your venue & wedding date. Perhaps your planner is conducting a venue search for you, or maybe you’re doing it on your own. Whatever the case may be, locking your venue and date will allow you both to sit back and breathe a little. That’s the biggest hurdle and it feels great when it’s checked off! ✔️
5. Time for some fun! Plan an engagement party! This is a fun way to bring family & friends together to celebrate you & your fiancé! Pop some more bubbly and enjoy this celebration! 🎉

✨My husband is in the Marine Corps so we incorporated a sword arch exit and the cutting of our cake with the traditional sword.
✨It was a day full of a labor of love; My mom made my bouquet & did my makeup, my bridesmaids helped with hair, and my little sisters made the cake and cupcakes!
✨My husband and I met and began our relationship in December and got married one year later. It is safe to say December is my favorite month especially since my anniversary, birthday and Christmas all fall between a 10 day span!
We can’t wait for everyone to get to know Josephine both behind the scenes and at our events! Welcome to the team! 🥂

When E&E reached out last May about planning their wedding weekend in November, I knew I would likely still be on maternity leave & was so flattered they still wanted to work with me to bring their vision (as well as 200 of their closest family & friends) together at the Hay Adams Hotel for a beautiful celebration.
Needless to say, I knew I needed a team of vendors I could trust to execute their special day, with or without me present. I can’t thank these incredible vendors enough for their time, talent, and efforts in producing such a flawlessly elegant occasion for E&E and their entire families.

Brides, keep reading for three tips for enjoying the morning of your wedding!
1. The right getting ready location matters! There will likely be quite a few people around you on the morning of your wedding. In addition to your bridesmaids, your close family members, hair/makeup stylists, and planner will be getting things ready. Nothing feels better than a location with ample space to move around! Good, natural lighting is also a must for your getting ready spot. Not only will this help your stylists, but your photographer too! Keep in mind that the aesthetic of your getting ready location will be the backdrop for all of those morning photographs.
2. Often times a lot of focus is given to the later portion of the day, but the morning schedule is crucial to thoughtfully think through as well. Besides a hair and makeup timeline, there are other moments to plan for in the morning. Preparing beforehand for the morning schedule of events will allow you to sit back and know that your planner will make sure each moment happens according to the prepared timeline.
3. Come prepared and then be ready to enjoy! Gather all of your personal details into one place the night before. Your photographer can easily grab everything and we won't need to keep bugging you as we track down items. Ensure that all of your attire is ready to put on! If something needs to be steamed, make sure to do that ahead of time. The more you prepare, the more you can enjoy your morning getting ready and excited for the day ahead.

This midsummer Washington D.C. wedding was nothing short of magical. From the whimsical, colorful bouquets to the stunning venue space, Amelia and Austin’s wedding day was the perfect celebration!

#1 Add in a surprise! Guests love a fun surprise during the reception. Whether it's a unique wedding party entrance, first dance, or dance floor favors, this small touch will bring on more cheer!
#2 Hire a DJ or band that fits your style! Finding the right entertainment to lead the night will be a game changer and your dance floor will never be empty.
#3 Not sure if you should add on a late night snack? We vote yes! After hours on the dance floor, everyone is going to love some fries, sliders, or more dessert!
