The Locked Door
Have you ever felt the stinging isolation of being locked out by someone who was supposed to protect you? Betrayal is like reaching for a handrail in the dark, only to find empty air. When I was just seven years old, fresh off a culture-shock move to Brooklyn, I stood outside my elementary school waiting for my dad. Instead of making sure I was safe, a teacher looked right at me, told me my parents were late, and callously locked the heavy school doors in my face. I was left alone, feeling abandoned, cut off, and completely vulnerable to the unforgiving streets. On the Wednesday before His crucifixion, Jesus knew the bitter taste of betrayal as Judas finalized his plot. When you feel betrayed by your job, your friends, or your mentors, remember that Jesus understands that exact isolation. You are not forsaken.
