Who will the US play on July 1? As of today, Algeria. But the best bet is Bosnia-Herzogovina (at this time!). Perhaps Qatar, perhaps Senegal. Regardless, SJK will have a Watch Party on the first of next month. Doors open 7:30pm, game starts at 8pm. Everyone is invited. The field house will be open for the kids to play. Cash bar and snacks available. Hope to see you at West Michigan's original soccer club for this big game!

We had a surprise visit from a former opponent yesterday. Ken Harkenrider played here in the 1970s as part of Fort Wayne Sports Club, then as a member of Notre Dame's varsity team, he competed against the Kickers in the early 1980s when the club used to host ND in an annual game (those games ended when SJK defeated ND, 1-0! Hard to believe something like that could ever happen today). We are grateful that after a span of 40+ years, even "Gegners" have fond remembrances of SJK.

The Kickers went one for two on the evening, with SJK Premier falling to Arthritico, 2-1, in South Bend, while SJK Blau defeated P&R FC, 5-1, in their home debut. All opponents scored via penalty kicks. Angel Rodriguez tallied for Premier, while in Arden, P&R scored an own goal, Daniel Soke scored twice, Gustavo Governo added one, and Sarah Jackemeyer left her penalty area to close out the scoring with a crackerjack shot on an eleven metre. Premier falls to third place in the BSL standings with a 4-2 mark, while Blau is just one spot behind with a 3-2 record. Blau's next game is Thursday, June 25, when they host Pathfinders at 7pm. Premier has a fortnight to recover before they also host Pathinders on July 2 at 7pm. Next Thursday, we will be open early and close late: Germany vs. Ecuador at 4pm; USA vs. Turkey at 10pm! Hope to see you at the Club! Don't forget about the USA Watch Party today at 2:30pm!

SOCCER TONIGHT AT SJK - 7PM: SJK BLAU vs. P&R FC. We will have the Canada and Mexico World Cup games on in the clubroom. Food and drinks available. This is Blau's first home game of the season, so it would be great to see a big group out to cheer on Coach Mariusz's squad after their four-game road trip. Good luck to SJK Premier as they travel to South Bend to take on Arthritico FC.

The Coed 7 v 7 League started last night, with four teams gaining victories. Mediocre at Best defeated the SJK Blau Ballers, 6-2; Manchesthair United took down the Tipsy Sharks, 6-1; KitchenAid United blanked the Titans, 2-0, and Slackerz shut out Radioactive FC, 5-0. On Wednesday, the initial Veterans 7 v 7 Division will play at 6:30 and 7:20pm. If the weather does not allow an outdoor game, we will head into the field house. So rain or shine, there will be soccer at SJK tomorrow!

Seven v Seven Coed Soccer kicks off tonight on the beautiful West Field! It should be a great night to play (and to watch if you bring a light jacket). Everyone is invited to come out, enjoy some soccer, then come into the clubroom for snacks, drinks, and Gemütlichkeit (we will also have the Saudi Arabia-Uruguay World Cup game on the club's three TVs). This is the first of eight Mondays that SJK will host games, which start at 5:30pm. And for the first time, we will also have a Veterans Division play on Wednesdays, starting THIS Wednesday at 6:30pm. If it storms, we will play in the field house. Hope to see you in Arden sometime soon!

Thanks to the 60+ that attended yesterday's watch party! Everyone had a great time seeing the US defeat Paraguay. The adults enjoyed the bar, great food, and each other's company, while the kids made good use of the field house, giving many moms and dads what passes for a date night in Arden! We will have the Clubroom open tomorrow by 12:30pm for the Germany vs. Curacao game. We hope you can stop by to enjoy the game in West Michigan's original soccer club!

The St. Joe Kickers split games on Thursday in Blossomland Soccer League action. In South Bend, Coach Mariusz Skonieczny's Blau squad went into halftime with a 1-0 lead, compliments of a goal by Yuri Izumi, but eventually fell to the host Velociraptors, 3-1. The loss puts Blau in fourth place with a 2-2 record.

In Arden, SJK Premier moved to the top of the table by defeating the Pumas, 11-1. Seth Walters recorded the haul, Angel Rodriguez the hat-trick, Kevin Kay the brace, while Zach Parker and Jacob Scouler added one goal each. Angel Rodriguez and Teddy Bermeo shared keeper duties for a missing Danny Martinez.

SJK Blau plays their first home game next Thursday when they host P&R FC at 7pm, while Premier travels to the Invaders Complex to face South Bend Arthritico, also at 7pm.

We will definitely have World Cup games on the clubroom's three TVs: we will be open by 6pm for the Canada vs. Qatar match and will stay open until the end of the Mexico vs. South Korea match, which kicks off at 9pm.
