Learn what is locally compostable in Humboldt and help us "talk trash" to attendees by educating them what goes where!

85% of all the waste created at Oyster Fest last year was diverted away from the landfill.

Nearly 4,000 pounds went to the and only 800 pounds went to the landfill as trash! Not to mention the CRV that went to community members like Jerry's Recycling and more !

Did you know not all sheets are made equal?

Paper napkins or paper towels are made entirely on paper, and are often compostable.

Then there are sheets that are too strong, yet soft like facial and baby wipes.

Those soft wipes are sadly single use trash.

Learn what those sheets are made of and think how they impact our environment.

According to Robert A. Villee of “Bet You Didn’t know Your Baby Wipes are Plastic?”, those wipes are often derived from materials like polyester, polyethylene, and polypropylene and they are not biodegradable. Therefore, those wipes should not be introduced to marine environment.
