While the summer months are slow for weddings (who wants to have a 115° heat index in a gown???), we’ve been busy sprucing up the barn. Currently replacing the fairy lights that wrap around the inside of the barn. Going up and down the 12’ redneck stairmaster (ladder) every 3’ to install and secure with new hooks has let me know that I’m not 40 anymore… nor am I even 50 anymore! My 60 year-old knees sure do protest loudly! Having new curtains made… we always take them down for hurricane season… that’s what is on the agenda for this week.

WEDDINGS!!!
What weddings are supposed to be: A day of effortless joy, surrounded by loving friends and family. We all know that what leads up to the wedding day can be stressful, overwhelming, and exhausting. Here, at Oaks of Devonaire, we give you THREE days to bring your vision to life while helping to remove stress. We believe that the only ‘job’ a bride should have on her wedding day is to be beautiful! That’s it! She should not have to worry about decorating and arranging the layout of her ceremony site nor her reception area.

You’ll get the day before your wedding for setup, decorating, and having your rehearsal. You’ll be able to use the air conditioned get-ready rooms to do your hair, makeup, and visit with your bridal party in the bridal suite. The guys can change into their spiffy clothes in the ‘hangout’. Wedding days are for festivities! You’ll get the day after for cleanup, packing away all of your beautiful decorations, grabbing your leftover food (and cake!!), thereby avoiding having to take time away from your special day and your special guests.

Rustic Elegance at its finest. Our authentic horse barn was converted to a wedding venue that personifies southern charm. Cows and horses will greet you and your guests from a nearby paddock, and are always happy to receive pettings. Our ceremony site is nestled between huge oak trees draped in Spanish moss. Sturdy bench seating will ensure your guests have a perfect view of your ‘I Do’s’. Imagine the look on your beloved’s face when you walk across the wooden bridge and down the grass-carpeted aisle.

Chandeliers provide beautiful lighting for your guests as they enjoy a meal provided by your caterer. Dancing under the stars on our outdoor dance floor is such a romantic way to experience your first dance. Our 20 acre farm has been landscaped with flowers and plants to provide a colorful array of butterflies and birds for your special day.

Our $4,100 3-day weekend value package ensures you get an amazing deal. Setup/decorating/rehearsal day, wedding day, and cleanup day. This includes two get-ready rooms, the caterer’s room, fire pit, ceremony site, bar area, tables and chairs for up to 150 people, and the dance floor.

I don’t know how nor why this rumor started, but…. Oaks of Devonaire is NOT FOR SALE, and it never will be.

I also want to clarify: when I meet with clients for the first time, I inform them that we are rule/ordinance/law FOLLOWERS. We have written (and signed) contracts and policies in place to keep our guests and property safe.

We DO require children to be supervised at all times.

We DO allow smoking at the fire pit, but do not allow it in our wooden barn, the parking area, nor anyplace other than the fire pit.

We DO require that all alcohol must be served by a professional bartender (it cannot be self-served, and no tailgating).

We DO adhere to the fire marshal’s regulations prohibiting fire/sparklers/flame in and around the barn.

We DO adhere to the county ordinances regarding the maximum music decibel level and cut-off time.

We DO expect guests to be respectful of our property, staff, and owners.

We DO provide security and advise guests, via signage, that owners and security staff will be actively patrolling.

We love our venue and take pride in offering an exceptionally beautiful and affordable place ‘Where Happily Ever After Begins’. It hurts my heart when people damage my property, break the law, and then get angry with me and my staff when we ask that they refrain from doing that. (And then leave bad reviews!!!) I love my couples that get married here… I really do!!! I truly wish the absolute best for them…. Lots of laughter, joy, happiness and love.

We plan on sharing the joy of weddings for many years to come.

Good heavens!!! For the past few months, folks have mentioned here and there that they sent an email inquiring about the Oaks. I finally took the time to try to see why I’m not receiving them…apparently, the link was never completed. People fill out the inquiry form, hit send, receive an automated message stating that I’ll get in contact with them soon. But I never do… BECAUSE I NEVER GET THE MESSAGE!! I’m horrified!!!
