Griffin's Garden

Griffin's Garden Documenting my experiences in gardening and homesteading, please enjoy the adventures alongside me and my son 😁

Griffin’s Garden is a micro flower farmstead offering seeds, plant starts, and seasonal goods grown with care in Zone 7A Virginia. This farm was created to provide affordable, locally grown plants while staying rooted in sustainability, learning, and community. Everything is grown or sourced in small batches, without unnecessary chemicals or shortcuts. Thank you for supporting a small farm and a growing family 🌱

Today was my son's first experience on the bee farm where I volunteer, and it was such a special day. 🐝✨

Together, we got to witness a bee hatching for the very first time, learn how honey is made, and spend time helping clean excess wax from the hives. Out of everything, I think he loved cleaning the wax the most!

It was also heartwarming to see how welcomed he was. Bill and Sharon at Gunny's Farm seemed to genuinely enjoy having him there, and he was so excited to learn and help wherever he could.

Moments like these remind me why I love teaching him where food comes from, how nature works, and the importance of caring for the world around us.

And the adventure isn't over yet—we'll be picking up our very own bees from them tomorrow! 🐝💛 I can't wait to see where this journey takes us.

🦕🌸 Jurassic Day at the Library! 🌸🦕

Today was such a fun day for Griffin's Garden at J Robert Jamerson Memorial Library dinosaur-themed event!

My son worked hard helping hand out his "Dinos on a Stick" creations to the kids, and I spent the week preparing flowers, dinosaur-themed bouquets, and dinosaur paint kits. Seeing children get excited about the dinosaurs and flowers made all the hard work worthwhile.

While we didn't make flower sales today, we gained valuable experience, met wonderful people, and had the chance to share a little piece of our farm with the community.

A big thank you to the library and everyone who stopped by our booth. We're learning, growing, and building something special—one flower and one dinosaur at a time. 🦖💐

5•27•26 My Queen Anne's Lace are coming in beautifully and my seed grown Dahlias are starting to bloom (maybe too soon?) so I had to pinch and cut the early blooms. I want tall Dahlias this year!

Our fall-sown Giant Imperial Larkspur has finally started blooming ✨

The row is a little patchy because germination wasn’t the best with direct sowing, but I recently transplanted some spring-started plants last month that should bloom before the summer heat kicks in 🌱

Who can really only have 1 farm dog lol so everyone...Meet Bloom!🌸🐾

Our newest addition to the farmstead and Griffin’s Garden family✨ Bloom is a pit/beagle mix we picked up from the Appomattox Animal Shelter and officially our second farm dog!

She has a very important future job around the homestead — helping protect the chickens and rabbits from predators (and honestly from our other overly excited dog too 😂). Almost everyone in the family is completely smitten with her...you can tell if given the chance our cat would have other words she'd probably want to use 🤣 but overall they are all warming up to each other pretty quickly ✨❤️

We’re excited to watch her settle into farm life, learn the routines, and grow into her role here on the homestead🌱

Welcome home, Bloom💛

One thing I’m learning as a first-year flower farmer is that not every flower fits every market — and that’s okay 🌱

While some florists out here weren’t looking for Iceland poppies, I’m beginning to realize they may be better suited for weddings, specialty bouquets and artistic floral design✨

Every season teaches something new, and I’m excited to keep growing alongside Griffin’s Garden 💐

Look who just turned 5✨

My little one was born on Mother’s Day, so we always have double the reason to celebrate 😁❤️

This year we did a Spider-Man themed birthday picnic, and what better way to tie it all together than with cookies! 🍪🕷️

We met Desert Bloom Bakery at A Market Beneath the Blossoms, and I’m so glad we reached out for sweets for his birthday! The cookies were amazing and everyone loved them - thank you so much! ✨

I learn something new every time I go to my beekeeping lessons at Gunny's Farm with Bill and Sharon🐝

Today I learned the weight of a swarm of bees as you scoop them by the handful!😆 Totally unforgettable experience ✨

2 days before Mother’s Day felt like the perfect moment to soft launch a new little product idea from Griffin’s Garden 🌱✨

Today was the last Friday lunch I’ll have with Stink before school ends, so we celebrated by giving away mini Mother’s Day flowers to teachers and staff 💐
