Thank you for a great Mile of Music Festival everyone. We're excited to serve you all next year already because this past weekend recharged our souls. Thank you for coming to our over 40 workshops this past weekend, the amount of joy and community music making that we witnessed was world changing!

Music is your birthright. Community is everything.

We LOVE that you love harmonica! We were overwhelmed by the outpouring of excitement and it was amazing! Come join us again today for harmonica at Heid Music at 11:20am! Due to the overwhelming love we only have enough harmonicas fo about the first 100 folks. Please bring your harmonicas back from yesterday! Bring your harmonicas from home! Come play with us!

ACM's current funding priorities:
🪕Original music experiences in downtown Appleton, including Mile of Music in 2025 and beyond.
🧡Artist hospitality, including lodging, food, and support for volunteer and artist care programs.
🥁Participatory Mile of Music Music Education Team experiences.
🫶Experiences that foster inclusion and diversity and connect the community.

The final one, the one that started it all.

Leila Ramagopal Pertl - Curator and Creator of the Music Education Team.

Music is a Birthright.

This concept is our guiding star, a cultural and community promise, and our dearly held belief. Music is something everyone has within them, it cannot be taken away. It may look different for individuals, but it is still yours. You'll see this belief on the back of our shirts, you'll see it on our posters, and most importantly you'll see it in our actions for this community, with this community, and because of this community.

Leila is our fiercest advocate, our biggest motivator, and our most intentional leader. She will stop at nothing to ensure you feel seen by our team at Mile this year.

Leila's career and experience of creating diverse and deep educational experiences spans decades and fields. She has taught in schools throughout the mid-west, classrooms at Lawrence University - Conservatory of Music, workshops around the country, and presented at institutions, boards, conferences and the like. She regularly inspires those around her to dig deep into meaning behind what we are teaching, why we are teaching, and who we are teaching. She truly is a master educator. She curates this team into a community of educators who seek to provide energizing, inspiring, and diverse experiences for you, our community.

Leila has created such a strong, unified team that she and Brian can step away from their roles as they transition into a new chapter. Long time MET member Adam Korber and Director of Operations Morgen Moraine will step in to continue the leadership of the Music Education Team at Mile 13.

The Music Education Team is endlessly grateful for the inspiration Leila has provided us, and the example she has given us to follow in the future.

Appleton, let's show up and give Leila and Brian the send off they deserve - Let's make music together as a community. Join us, come BE the music.

Music is a birthright, music is your birthright and it always will be. That's a promise.

Now we get to the people that makes the magic happen!! So yeah, another longer post alert.

Morgen Moraine - Director of Operations.

Fiercely passionate about community music making, Morgen belongs with people making music together. They bring institutional knowledge, logistical expertise, impeccable planning, and of course, an unshakable belief that we are better together, especially when we are making music - together!

As a teacher in the Appleton Area School District, Morgen regularly brings all of these things together to form experiences for their students. As our Director of Operations, she does the same thing and makes the weekend run SO smoothly for all of you, making sure that instruments are getting to where they need to be, people are at the workshops to support you and your learning, taking videos and photos of the magic that is happening at the over 40 workshops that we are hosting this weekend, and of course reveling in the joy that this weekend brings to Appleton, WI.
