December 3, 2016 marked our final event as the AAEC retires after 10 years. This year’s Christmas Lane was our biggest yet, where 227 kids came through the building and sat with Santa, 8 pounds of Nacho’s, 20 pounds of Cheese, 12 pounds of sauerkraut, 271 hot dogs and buns, 100’s of Cookies and Hot Coco was consumed, 800+ prizes, 2500+ pieces of Candy, 200 bags of cotton candy and 70 candy apples were passed out throughout the night. We gave away 5 adult baskets and 20 some toys to some very lucky people. 100s took Fire Truck Rides, got their face painted and were given balloon animals, all while being entertained by the Snow Queen, Whiskers the Lion, the AR Band, and of course our beloved Quack A. Pollo.
This is a bittersweet moment for us, as we are so proud of how much support the community has given us over the past 10 years. We couldn’t have done this without you. Thank you for always donating, buying tickets and coming to our events. We hope the memories we wanted to create for you will last a lifetime.
I want to take this time to thank the committee as well, Debbie Schrecengost, the founder, has worked countless hours for this committee, spending lunch hours, evenings and weekends making phone calls, writing letters and coming up with ideas. Of course She couldn’t do it alone without her hard working volunteers, Brandy Martin, Rose and Robert Burkett, Ed Johnston, Carol Kopnicky, & Theresa and Chris Stewart, who attended weekly meetings, spent hours making items for each events, coming up with ideas, making phone calls, selling tickets and getting the word out of each event. There is a lot of behind the scenes work and a lot off stressing trying to pull of the best Ducky Derby, Miss Apollo Pageant, Parade, Chili and Soup Cook Off and Christmas Lane we could!
As the saying goes, All Good Things Must come to an End.
