No loopholes.
No delays.
No special rules.

Just cause and effect.

People grew up believing accountability worked the same way for everyone.
From the front porch to the highest office.

If workers felt it, leaders felt it.
If families struggled, decision makers noticed.

Because consequences were not something that only applied downward.

They applied evenly.

And that idea still sticks with a lot of folks today.
Fair is fair.
Or at least it used to feel that way.

Some lessons never really leave.
Even decades later.
Even after the world changes.
