I've been under the weather for the last few days, which has given me ample time to think about my business. I told everyone that I would talking about the what, why, and how of my work, so I think today is great time to talk about how I stumbled into this whole world.

I have always been a person to keep her life organized and planned (besides my bedroom at times). Planners make me feel whole and like I have control over my life. Color coded closet? You bet. I'd never thought to apply this love of organization to a career, though. Until November of 2016.

My boyfriend, Ethan's long time best friend was getting married to his high school sweetheart, who I had become good friends with, and still cherish our friendship today. I wasn't part of the bridal party, but was asked to help with making decorations for the ceremony and whatnot. She can tell you how obsessive I get about chalk lettering 😂

As the wedding stood about a week out, she asked me if I would be willing to watch over a few things on the big day, to which I happily said, "of course!" Little did I know what I had signed up for. The day before the rehearsal dinner she came to me with a packet of things I was in charge of, a layout of the day, timeline, and other small stuff.

I had been tossed into this position, and by the end of the night, had found a passion. Everyone I spoke to said things went perfectly and that I was cut out for this. In the next few days, I did a lot of hard praying and consulting family about it. I was in a precarious time. I was nearing graduation with no job prospects in the near future. So, I made the decision to jump in and become the best that I could be.

To date, I have made more meaningful relationships with brides and vendors alike, and could not be happier to have made this choice. If you've made it this far, thank you for your time. I'll keep the sappy posts coming!

Everyone knows that the process around planning and executing a wedding can be a stressful ordeal. I've been asked several times why I chose to get into the business at all, actually.

"There's so much responsibility on you."
"Don't you worry that something will go wrong?"
"That's too much to handle!"

Well, sure, I've thought all of these things before, but there is just something about following my passion that keeps me coming back for more. I work well under pressure. I love getting to see those little moments of pure, true joy and happiness on the bride's face; or that tear of joy on the groom's.

I sleep better knowing that I helped create a pristine, beautiful time for a couple that they will cherish for the rest of their days. I sleep better too, because those days usually range from ten to thirteen hours and I'm just beat after it's all said and done.

Either way, I am so glad to have stumbled into this line of work and so glad that I get to be part of such intimate moments in peoples' lives. This week I'll be writing more about what I do, why I do it, and how this whole crazy train ride got started. Keep an eye out for the next chapter!
