Swipe to the second and third photos for a little throwback. 🥹 ✨ & Save these family photos as inspiration! ✨ Those were taken almost TWO years ago when I was pregnant with Rosie. The others are from last fall, which means…I think it’s officially time to recreate them again this year. 🤍

For those of you who are new here, before this chapter of my life, I was a full-time photographer. Photography took me all over the world—photographing families and businesses, teaching other photographers, and building a career that became such an important part of our family’s story.

It supported our family. It helped put my husband through doctorate school. And during some of the heaviest seasons of our lives, it gave us a way to keep going.

Photography will always have such a special place in my heart. And when I look back now, I really believe God gave me that profession to prepare me for what I’m doing today. It taught me how to notice people. How to look for the story others might walk right past. How to capture emotion. How to create something that makes someone feel.

And now, so much of that has carried into Kind Rooted. The camera is still in my hands, the purpose behind it has just grown. 🤍

Over the last several months, I’ve also received SO many messages asking if I would ever bring my presets back. And I finally decided… YES.

I’m going to start selling my presets again! ✨ They’ll be available on our current website soon, but if you want the link now, comment “PRESETS” below and I’ll send it to you.

And something that makes this feel even more meaningful to me: preset purchases will help support our family’s giving mission, Kind Rooted.

So in a way, this little piece of my past gets to help us continue building what God has placed on our hearts for the future. Maybe photography wasn’t a chapter I was supposed to close completely. Heck, I have years of family photos to share! 🤪

I know it was preparing me for the next chapter all along. 🤍 God is good.

✨ Save this video for your next “Do Good Adventure!” ✨ & tell us where we should adventure to next! If you know someone who could use a little extra kindness, nominate them in the comments. 🤍

One of the reasons I started sharing our Do Good Adventures is because I want to show that doing good can simply become part of the way we live our lives. I want you to explore somewhere new, pack a lunch, & make memories with your family. & look for opportunities to leave a little good behind.

It doesn’t have to cost a lot of money, either. Most of the time we pack a cooler with our meals, & aside from gas, we really only spend money on the acts of kindness we choose to do.

Okay… we did splurge this time because I had to take my kids on the carousel. 🥹 I grew up riding that carousel!

Before we leave on these adventures, we fill a bowl with slips of paper, they tell us what we will do. But we don’t always do every act we draw, & we don’t record every act of kindness we do.

I never want this to become about doing something just so we can say we did it. We pray, seek God’s guidance, & sometimes we don’t do it.

We don’t force it. We trust that the Spirit will lead us to the person, place, or moment where we’re supposed to give. Sometimes that means changing the plan completely, & I actually think that’s one of my favorite parts of these adventures.

For this one, we headed toward Red Wing, & Wabasha, Minnesota, & this is easily one of my favorite drives.

🍂 The fall colors were around 25–50%, & the drive was spectacular.
🥾 We walked around Red Wing.
🍩 We stopped at Hanisch Bakery! BEST donuts I’ve ever had, & their lunch was delicious too.
🐚 We collected shells, chased seagulls, and played along Lake Pepin.
🎠 We stopped at Lark Toys in Kellogg.
🍁 Wabasha has FREE fall activities throughout October, & we honestly could have spent hours there.

My favorite part isn’t really where we go. It’s teaching my kids & hopefully encouraging another family watching; that you can turn an ordinary family adventure into an opportunity to notice people, listen for those little promptings, & do some good along the way.

🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸HONOR A VETERAN🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Comment below and share the name of a loved one who has served our country so we can honor them today. 🇺🇸

We’re in Washington, D.C., and tonight, we’re going to do something truly special. At the National Military Monument, we can request the names of veterans and service members to be displayed on this remarkable monument.

So, I kindly request you to send me the name of someone you love who served. In return, we’ll send you a photo featuring their name displayed on the monument!

Our goal is to honor as many individuals as possible. We’ll take a picture of their name here in Washington and send it back to those who submitted their names. (Please note that we cannot guarantee that we can honor everyone.)

Every name has a story, and I believe those names deserve to be remembered.

This is Kind Rooted, and this is our mission. We want to honor those who gave it all.

Part of my purpose here is to share OUR STORY. & something I’ve felt compelled to talk about is how having children with disabilities affects the family as a whole.

First, I’m incredibly grateful for children who deeply love & care for one another. I truly believe everything we’ve walked through together has created a connection between them that makes life a little sweeter.

Just last night, my 4-year-old said to my 5-year-old, “I will help you because I don’t want you to ever miss out on anything. I don’t want to do it without you.”

Those words stopped me. Recently I shared about my own healing journey and what years of fear, stress & anxiety can do to a person. But something we don’t talk about enough is this: When your family experiences hard things, your children experience them too. They see it, feel it, and live it too.

My children have attended countless doctor appointments. They’ve spent hours in hospitals and waiting rooms. They’ve been separated from us because of health problems. They’ve watched their siblings struggle and their parents worry. They’ve had plans canceled and moments when one child’s needs had to come before everything else. And that affects them.

I’ve told my husband so many times that I hope our kids grow up knowing they can overcome hard things simply by watching our story unfold. That they know how deeply they are loved and how hard we have fought for each of them to have the best life possible.

Because I’m realizing I’m not the only one healing from what our family has experienced. Our kids are healing too. And maybe you are too?

That’s one reason kindness has become such an important part of our family. By teaching our children to notice, serve & intentionally care for others, I believe we’re doing more than making a difference in someone else’s life. We’re making a difference in ours too.

The hard things have taught our children to notice people more deeply. They understand what it feels like to be afraid, left out, worried, different or uncertain. So we’re taking some of what has hurt us and using it to make the world a little softer for someone else. That’s part of our story. & I think it’s part of our healing too. 🤍

We frequently visit Children’s Hospital for our daughter, Rosie and Brenna. And although this video was from the past this particular visit still holds a strong memory in my heart. As we were leaving the hospital, we felt prompted by the Spirit to share “Kind Rooted Bags” with a sweet family we met. Though I don’t speak Spanish, I could still feel God’s love surrounding our entire encounter. ♥️ Thankfully, my husband Jordan was able to translate and share our mission, our purpose, and most importantly, our love.

✨One moment I’ll never forget happened shortly after. We had given the children their bags and went on our way. A few minutes later, we crossed paths again. As we walked past, the little boy came running up to us with the biggest smile and said, “I’ve always wanted one of these!” They had paused in the waiting area to open their gifts, the little girl hugged her new stuffed animal tightly, and the boy’s joy was written all over his face.✨

It was such a pure and beautiful reminder that even the smallest acts of kindness can plant memories that last forever.

For awhile, I thought I had a clear vision for what this page would evolve into after putting down my camera. But the more I prayed, the more God began showing me something different than what I originally planned. Something deeper. Something that aligned perfectly with my heart and with what He wanted all along.

I think sometimes we have to sit in the waiting. It’s not procrastination. It’s listening. It’s allowing God to align things in His timing instead of forcing our own.

Slowly, this page is evolving into something so much bigger than I could ever fully explain through words. And honestly… The vision is really beautiful.

Our mission, Kind Rooted, is the foundation of everything our family is and does. A mission rooted in intentional acts of kindness, love, community, and bringing others closer to God.

Growing up, I struggled with disabilities that often made me feel like I didn’t belong. Even now, there are still moments I feel different. But somewhere along this journey, especially while building our shop and this community. I realized maybe that feeling of being “different” was never something to hide. Maybe it was part of the purpose all along.

And now, as parents raising children with disabilities of their own, we never want them to feel unseen, unloved, or like they don’t fit in the way I once did.

So we are building the space I wish I had growing up. A place where everyone is invited. A place where people feel loved, seen, respected, and reminded that they were created with purpose. A place where kindness leads people back to God.

This space is going to be filled with love, hope, growth, and opportunities for YOU to serve too.

I’ll still share our family photographs because I’ll never stop capturing our life through my lens. But expect this page to become so much more than photography.

I’ll be sharing ways to serve others, intentional acts of kindness, the hardest and most beautiful parts of our journey, encouragement for those walking through difficult seasons, and reminders that even through pain… we can still grow.

Because we believe in being rooted in purpose while we bloom in kindness. ♥️

Created by His hand, we were never meant to live small, quiet, or hidden. We were designed to bloom, uniquely in his image. ♥️ Share if you feel inspired and save this post for later!

We were created with intention, every part of who we are was placed here on purpose. Not to blend in, not to become what the world expects, but to grow wild in the way He designed us to. Rooted deeply in Him, and blooming outward in kindness.

Kind Rooted isn’t just about doing good things.
It’s about becoming the kind of person who lives it… Who lives it in every part of their being.

It’s the way you see yourself, in the way you show up for others, in the way you choose love when it would be easier not to.

Because kindness isn’t random.
It’s planted.
It’s chosen.
It’s grown.
It’s INTENTIONAL. This my friends is why we have .

And when you begin to see yourself the way He sees you; created on purpose, for a purpose…
🌹You don’t just bloom… you help others bloom too! Isn’t that a beautiful concept to think about?! 🌹
