Thanks to The Capital for this great piece highlighting our Inclusive Ventures Program and two of its eleven recent graduates, Pirate Adventures on the Chesapeake and Crusaders4Change!
ICYMI, see the full list of small business owners who graduated from the program a few weeks ago and read the surprise remarks that they heard from County Executive Steuart Pittman, Maryland Department of Commerce Secretary Kelly M. Schulz, and The City Of Annapolis Mayor Gavin Buckley here:

We had a great time celebrating Economic Development Day with Leadership Anne Arundel and Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation last week.
The jam-packed agenda included:
- our very own Ben Birge delivering opening remarks at the Annapolis Market House
- visits to awesome businesses including Northrop Grumman Corporation, Gable Signs, Watermark Tours Charters Cruises, Arundel Mills, Pirate Adventures on the Chesapeake, BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), and Vision Technology
- a tour of Live Casino & Hotel Maryland followed by a great panel discussion on the economic impact of Fort George G. Meade, Md and the NSA - National Security Agency
- a tour of the Chesapeake Arts Center
With four LAA Flagship Program graduates on our staff, we couldn't be more proud to have participated in such a great day.
We're very pleased to share that the second cohort of business owners has graduated from our Inclusive Ventures Program - an initiative that aims to help small and minority-, women-, and Veteran-owned businesses succeed and grow by providing their owners with the resources that early-stage entrepreneurs so often lack: business education and training, access to capital, and mentorship.
The event took place last Wednesday, October 27, and included each owner presenting his or her final business plan followed by surprise remarks from County Executive Steuart Pittman, Maryland Department of Commerce Secretary Kelly M. Schulz, and The City Of Annapolis Mayor Gavin Buckley.

Last night WSA's Class 10 sailed the high seas (of the Severn River) on a pirate ship! We celebrated the impact and contributions they made during GreenGive and even found some treasure! Even though they graduated years ago, Class 10 is a tight-knit group, and it was wonderful to see them reunited.
Thank you, Class 10, for your outstanding participation in the 2021 GreenGive!
A special thanks to Pirate Adventures on the Chesapeake & Bread and Butter Kitchen for helping us create an evening to remember!
I've been on two pirate cruises for little boys' birthdays, and it's so much fun for the kids! The crew play such great characters and lead the kids on a pirate adventure. For me, just sitting under the canopy enjoying the fresh air, watching the antics and games is such great fun, and there's a lot to see around Annapolis harbor. The water views are always pleasant but a small fleet of colorful sailboats really catches one's eye...the play of sunlight on the water...the laughter of the children and the antics of the crew...the gentle rocking of the ship as it cleaves the waves...can't tell you how relaxing it is, like being in another world. Both times I was sad to return to the dock, I enjoyed it all so much. I wouldn't mind taking myself and a few friends out just to enjoy the water. Thank you making this terrific trip available and for making it such a genuine pleasure to enjoy!
We had a BLAST visiting our pirate friends from Pirate Adventures on the Chesapeake! Our campers are always so excited to hunt for treasure! If you’re looking for an awesome family friendly experience, give our pals a shout today!
Ahooyyyy!!! Our campers were real life pirates yesterday on their field trip to Pirate Adventures on the Chesapeake!
With the warmer weather, it's a great time to start planning for fun activities outdoors! Get a haircut in April and be entered to win four tickets to Pirate Adventures on the Chesapeake. It's a huge hit with the kiddos!
