Building a business solo takes a lot more than you might realize.

Building systems from scratch, staying on top of leads, emails, contracts, timelines, and upgrading gear one piece at a time.

Some days I think none of it is paying off. Most days I look up from my timeline and realize… wait, this is actually working.

I’ve had to learn what really goes into a project so I can charge accordingly. Everyone sees the shooting and the editing, but there’s also the outreach, the back and forth, months of planning, wear and tear on equipment, and paying yourself on top of all of it.

But looking back even a year, the progress is obvious.

More projects.
Better storytelling.
And more clients recommending me again and again.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned so far is that momentum comes from consistently learning and sticking with it. Not just the technical side, but learning positioning and systems that actually keep the business alive.

Most wedding videographers are sleeping on their audio. It’s the one of the main things that separates video from photo, and it’s usually the last thing people think about.
Adobe Podcast is free with any Creative Cloud subscription. One click, slider adjustments. It’s not perfect, but if you’re already recording decent sound it’ll clean up fast.
