A long tradition in our house had its final year. The Father Daughter Dance my daughter Audrey and husband Mark have attended for 8 years was on Friday. It’s been so fun making her corsages and his boutonnières over the years. Making these for others over the years has been a special honor and just love to do!

How it started, way back in 2000 in Cedar Falls, IA. I met several amazing women who became my family and still help each other with our creative adventures today. Who knew a college part-time job would open the doors to so many things.
Remembering the old days of making 200 dozen rose vases, 18 hour days, and loads of fun on Valentine’s Day. Hair in pigtails, a giant smile, and an ungodly amount of caffeine to make it all happen. And always enjoyed our last customer of the day… the guy who walked in at 8:50pm because he forgot Valentine’s Day and had a very angry partner… he absolutely needed that 2 dozen rose vase, a teddy bear, chocolates and… a balloon! 🩷💝💖

A month ago today, July 10th, I said goodbye to my sister in law, Amy from a 3 year fight with breast cancer. She was a wife and a mom. A high school teacher. An over the top Disney fan. A traveler. A daughter. A sister. An Aunt. And a friend.
Doing sympathy flowers has a much different “feel” that any other flowers. It’s an honor to try to capture someone’s life in the art of flowers. I hope to capture a memory and a conversation-bringing the person back to life, even if it’s just for a little while.
I knew I wanted to show Amy for the things that made her who she was.
Her wedding bouquet had Stargazer lilies and pink roses. Lavender and blues were for the Disney Castle at Magic Kingdom. Red and White for Minnie/love of Disney and Blue, White and Red, for Urbandale HS where she had graduated in 1991 and taught for over 20 years. In each one had a pair of her Mickey ears to match. 🐭
I hope she liked them. There were no tears until I took the Minnie picture. Knowing her time to go to her happiest place on earth would be no more. But, I know she is riding Dumbo till her hearts content! And as her son said, “there are no wait times in heaven.” Love you Amy💞

It’s been a minute! It was a glorious 80 degree, sunny day in April in Iowa for this GORGEOUS wedding today! Boho vibes mixed with vintage romantic… just stunning! 💐 The Hive in Indianola was beautiful !
