Join us for our Spring Clean-Up Day this Saturday, 4/12 from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the shelter (1232 State Hwy 5S, Amsterdam).

We’ll be tackling some outdoor yard work — raking, shoveling, and sprucing things up for the season! Bring your own gloves 🧤, rakes 🧹, and shovels 🛠️, and be sure to dress for the weather ☀️🌧️.

This is a great community service opportunity and a fun way to help out your local animal shelter! 🐾❤️

Wildlife Animal Attack in Amsterdam: Public Safety Advisory

Amsterdam, [April 4, 2025] – Residents in the area of Veteran's Park Field and 2nd Avenue and surrounding streets are advised to exercise caution following a report of an aggressive animal thought to be either a fox or a small coyote that has bitten an individual. Victim required extensive medical attention, underscoring the serious dangers of confronting wildlife. Authorities emphasize the importance of seeking immediate medical treatment if bitten to address injuries and screen for potential rabies exposure. The community is urged to stay vigilant and report any wildlife displaying unusual behavior by calling 911. It is crucial to never approach or attempt to assist wild animals that appear injured, as this can lead to dangerous encounters. Safety remains a top priority, and adherence to these guidelines can help prevent further incidents. For more information, please contact Montgomery County Health Department at 518-853-3531 or Amsterdam Police Department upon a sighting.
