Looking for an inspiring literary evening in downtown Amherst?

📍 Make your way to UMass Downtown on Thursday, September 11 at 7 PM for Writers Reading, a free poetry event curated by Michael Mercurio.

Joining him are poets J.J. Starr‑McClain, Kirun Kapur, and Patrick Donnelly, bringing diverse and moving perspectives to the mic.

Presented in partnership with the Amherst Business Improvement District, this reading is open to all—no tickets or registration required.

🅿️ FREE Parking: Free 2-hour parking in the North Pleasant Street lot (behind CVS) through Labor Day (9/1/25)

🚘 STREET PARKING on Main St, Amity St, N Pleasant St, and S Pleasant St that was closed during active construction will be reopened and available every weekend from Friday at 5PM through Sunday at 5PM.

🚧 WEEK OF AUG 18: On Monday, Crews will place the first coat of asphalt. The intersection will remain open to traffic, with some temporary detours in place throughout the day. Once this step is complete, crews will spend the rest of the week working on raising structures (utility access, catch basins, etc.). Use caution when traveling through this area.

The Campus Pantry provides the UMass Amherst community with free groceries to support their basic needs and help promote their well-being. To celebrate the opening, let's help Pack the Pantry! Bring nonperishable food items to UMass Downtown during our regular business hours from now through August 14 and help make a real impact one delicious donation at a time.

Co-hosted by the UMass Basic Needs Initiative, UMACC UMass Amherst Community Campaign, and Amherst Survival Center.
