Since 1964 men and women from Ames and the surrounding area have been creating a community of spirit and joy, singing diverse, high quality secular and sacred choral literature: folk

songs, spirituals, musical theater selections, and larger works. In recent years, we have performed Haydn's The Seasons, Handel's Messiah, When Icicles Hang by John Rutter, Vivaldi's Magnificat, Cantata 140 (Wachet auf) by Bach, Hanukkah songs, and music by Iowans and/or about Iowa.

Ames Choral Society invites you to enjoy the merriest of holiday seasons by attending our winter concert. Featuring music spanning 500 years, the concert celebrates the heritage and longevity of choral music. Old English "Now may we singen," hymn "Jesus Christ the Apple Tree," and Christmas favorite "Carol of the Drum" celebrate the past, while jazzy "Merry Christmas" arranged by Ryan O'Connell, "We Wish You the Merriest!" by Les Brown, and John Rutter's "Christmas Lullaby" are newer additions to our festive library. There will be a sing along of favorite holiday tunes and a reception following the concert.

Tickets are $15 for adults, with children 12 under free. These can be purchased from ACS members, at the door, or online at https://www.zeffy.com/ticketing/283b706b-efb7-4065-8fe5-a937f3568c03

Come join us as we sing through favorite choruses of G.F. Handel's "Messiah" this Saturday, April 13th, from 4 to 5 p.m. The location will be St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 209 Colorado Avenue. All singers and musicians are invited to join us--copies of the music for singers will be available to borrow. If you'd just like to listen, you are welcome to do so!

Our Messiah Sing Along is held in honor of Handel's desire to benefit the less fortunate through its performance. In that spirit, an offering will be taken and the proceeds will be donated to The Bridge Home, formerly known as the Emergency Residence Project.
