📜 Something old, new, borrowed, and blue
And a sixpence (or penny) in her shoe!
Dates back to 19th century Lancashire as an Old English rhyme.
Something Old - a tie to the past - maybe to remember who she was, where she came from...
Something New - a tie to her new life, standing for hope and optimism for the future
Something Borrowed - from a happily married friend of relative to bring good luck and fertility
Something Blue - ward off the evil eye, also a symbol for love, purity, and fidelity
Sixpence (Penny) - to bring prosperity to couple
Traditionally gathered by female relatives and friends, it no longer needs to be from anyone and you can be creative with these, if you choose to do them at all!
