Our Story
Settles Hill Banquets and Events was originally established in 1991 by Jock Farnsworth, who had purchased 465 beautiful acres and built The Tree Farm Restaurant in Altamont, NY. After his passing and subsequent closing in 2005, Carver Laraway purchased the property which he then renovated into a banquet facility. In 2008, the DePasquale family, former owner of The Backgrounds Restaurant in Schenectady, NY took over the facility and Settles Hill Banquets and Events was born.
The DePasquale family continues to renovate and improve the property, which is nestled on our beautifully landscaped grounds. It is now adorned with a pergola for onsite ceremonies surrounded by evergreens, hardwoods and seasonal flowers. Our wrap around porch allows our guests to sit and relax while enjoying the views of our naturally stocked pond and the occasional wildlife. The 10 acre property with backdrops of the Heldeberg Mountains is a perfect location for your outdoor wedding. Our 4500 square foot ballroom can accommodate up to 300 people, and is encased with elongated windows from ceiling to floor that allow natural sunlight to enhance the beauty of the maple hardwood floors. A separate banquet room which accommodates gatherings of up to 75 people boasts a handsome, rustic bar. A quaint bridal suite is also available to our bridal parties. Our venue is all on one level which makes it very handicapped accessible. We are conveniently located just minutes from Albany.
