The Altamont Manor is one of the area's unique locations for wedding receptions. A gracious 1894 restored Victorian home, just 20 minutes from Stuyvesant Plaza, we offer a secluded setting, formal gardens, spacious landscaped surroundings and a tri-state view. The Altamont Manor is one of the few venues in the region to provide a beautiful setting for both the ceremony and the reception, in good w

eather or bad. Enjoy peace of mind knowing that whatever the weather, your wedding will be special. We only host one function a day, so you can start your event when it's convenient for you.

When the planets align!!....Our flowering crab apple tree was in full bloom this past week and it brought back memories when the "planets aligned." We were doing the photography and we're able to bring our knowledge of the seasons, the venue and the timing together for a great shot. Each year in mid-May the tree bursts forth with spectacular blooms. The day was perfect, a light over cast for great lighting, i.e. no harsh shadows. And of course our experience and creativity as to the right time of day to take the shot and then the subtle post production computer enhancements for optimal visual impact. It's one of my all time favorite Manor shots.

Did you ever have one of those "that-looks-like-something-familiar" moments, even though the connection escapes you,...yet you can't let it go. I was going through photos from weddings we shot in 2017 and pulling out exceptional images to update our Manor material. We shot Faith and Blue's wedding and several elements stand our. First is Faith's story. She came from Zimbabwe, studied for nursing in Philadelphia and now works at Albany Med. The second was her WOW hair. We've been doing weddings for 28 years and this has to be one of the most intricate, eye catching and stylish hair treatments I've ever seen. Then it clicked....I'd seen that same portrait treatment on an ancient stone tablet in a museum,...an African Queen...and Faith was every bit as elegant and regal. Seeing her for the first time as she arrived for the wedding that day I was struck by her classic beauty and maybe it was the subconscious at work, but I did a profile shot in the style of the stone tablet, although I probably wasn't aware of it at the time. So here it is. Just before I hit publish I had another thought, maybe I'll try and "turn her into stone" and covert her portrait into a stone tablet. Let me know what you think.

Well, the 12 days of Christmas have just passed but in the interest of keeping the spirit of a Victorian Christmas alive in a time that really needs that spirit as long as we can keep it going, here are some photos of Christmas at the Altamont Manor. Also, as a fan of a radio show called The Hudson River Sampler on WAMC 90.3 on Saturday nights at 8:00 PM, I heard a Christmas song titled Glory Glory that deserves to be a classic. The simplicity, elegance and emotion are truly moving. I've attached the link. While it's on YouTube, it's an audio only with just the visual from the album cover. If you can,...close your eyes for about four minutes and let it transport you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nic63w8-jbM

One of the Altamont Manor's favorite DJs, Richie Phillips has started a podcast titled "The Top" where he does in-depth interviews with people, businesses and events that are at "The Top" of the Capital District scene. Richie was one of the area's most successful and highly rated morning drive time FM radio show hosts for years.

For his initial podcast he scored an interview with Moriah Formica who was on NBC's The Voice. Moriah is a junior at Shaker High School. Pretty amazing for a seventeen year old. She's expanding on that experience and is on the same bill on January 26th at the TU Center with John Legend, James Taylor and Jim Belushi. Heady company for a seventeen year old.
