Looking for a local outing to enjoy the beautiful fall weather? Even with the damage from the storms, I've decided there's too much beauty here not to share it. Come walk the u-pick fields and enjoy the farm! The cost is just $25 per cup, as many stems as you can fit! This first weekend we will do Saturday and Sunday. Please note there is construction that may be ongoing between the farm and the highway on H Ave, which means you'll have to turn a mile early or later, and take Ave G or J and come around the block! If you plan to come this weekend and would like a detour map, comment detour and I'll send you one! Our address is 835 H Ave Alta Vista, just look for the sign by the double gates! I'll provide the cups, the Snips, and the flowers! Just bring yourselves and enjoy 😉

Flowers and ducks aren't the only things we are growing on the farm 👶🤰 We are expecting a baby in the spring! That also means I won't be offering spring flowers in '27, I'll be soaking up all the baby and family time I can while we adjust to our new addition!! I may decide to do some fall workshops and u-pick fields next year, so make sure you follow our page to keep up with what's happening! 🥰💖

A little sad to be posting this update 😔 These pictures were only a few days apart.
I put so much work into prepping beds and planting our u-pick rows to trial a fall u-pick, but the weather is a constant changing force in any type of farming. After the days of incessant rain, my soil and plants were completely soaked. The wind added to the mix towards the end was the final blow. The plants were just too wet and heavy, and their root systems could not hold them up. Even the rows I had netted and staked to prevent this type of thing did not stand up to that much water. It ripped the rows down, taking the netting and the posts with them. I tend to blame myself when something goes wrong, but I'm learning to take it easier on myself the older I get. There was nothing I could have done. And honestly life is too short to worry about things I can't control.

All that to say, I really am not sure I can repair any of this damage. As things dry out I will assess the damage again and determine if I will cancel our fall u-picks, and if I can offer some bulk buckets or cut flower bouquets in the next few weeks. I'll be sharing another, much happier update here also. Stay tuned 😉 🥰☺️

Zinnias- the flower that started it all. I had never grown a zinnia before my first year flower farming. They never cease to amaze me. Their varying form, color, bloom type is mind blowing to me. My favorite are the double blooms that mature into a little cupcake shape, and they really look like you could eat them! Although you can eat zinnias, I doubt they'd taste as good as they look! They're super easy to grow too! You can buy seed packets just about anywhere, and you can just toss them on some bare dirt, rake a little and keep them moist until germination. They can germinate in about 36 hours, and the first bloom can appear in the first several weeks. What's your favorite type of zinnia? I'd love to know ❤️

No matter what kind of farmer you are, these last couple weeks have been awful. 🥵🥵I haven't posted dates for my fall u-pick yet because I'm watching to see how these younger plants hold up to the heat. But I hope over the next couple weeks I'll be able to assess the damage and hopefully be able to set a couple dates and start selling tickets!
