Congratulations to our graduating Mentors!

Semester after semester, Harvard college undergraduates show up for the Allston-Brighton community through the Harvard Ed Portal. From teaching literacy, leading science and arts clubs, supporting ELL students, to helping teens navigate college and career prep and offer one-on-one mentoring for kids of all ages...all while earning their own degrees.

These mentors didn’t just contribute to this programming, they became part of the community.

Thank you for your creativity and dedication. We are proud of everything you’ve accomplished and we can’t wait to see what you do next!

Harvard's research found that high-quality arts education helps young people grow in ways that extend beyond the classroom, like building persistence, self-expression, and the ability to reflect and connect.

This spring, together with the Harvard Ed Portal Public School Partnership and Arts & Culture teams, we introduced the Teen Arts Program which brought students from Brighton High School and Mary Lyon Pilot High School to spend the semester learning professional exhibition design, curation, and presentation. They also created their own works of art, like portraits, paintings, digital illustrations, and woven fiber.

🖼️ 🎨 Their exhibition, Pieces of Everyone, is now on view at the Crossings Gallery. We'll be celebrating their gallery reception on May 21!

From personal stories to groundbreaking science, Dr. Jessica Whited of Harvard Medical School, brought regenerative research to life at this year’s Rob Lue Memorial Lecture—which also featured the key part of her lab’s work, the unforgettable and adorable axolotl salamander. 🦎

The evening opened with remarks from Harvard’s president, Alan Garber, honoring Rob Lue and underscoring the importance of science, community, and education.
