A very special thank you to Janet Ostendorf and her family for donating the unique bench that now sits beside the new Maifeld Livestock Barn under the binzebo. The bench was donated in memory of their father, Leroy, a lifelong supporter of the Butler County Fair.
Daughters Peggy Gipple and LeAnn Greene shared the story behind this meaningful gift. The bench was originally given to their parents as a Christmas present. After Leroy’s passing, their Mom felt the fairgrounds would be the perfect place for it, recognizing the important role the Butler County Fair played in their family’s life.
Leroy’s connection to the fair began at a young age when he exhibited livestock at the Butler County Fair and even won a show box with one of his calves—a treasured keepsake that his daughters still have today. Leroy and his wife were longtime leaders of the Madison Boys and Girls 4-H Clubs, and all three of their daughters were active in 4-H as well.
The family wishes Leroy could be here to see the bench in its new home, surrounded by the fairgrounds he loved so much. Pictured are LeAnn and Steve Greene.
