Community Music School (CMS) – Lehigh Valley & Berks is a non-profit charitable organization that provides the inspi

ration and opportunity for anyone in our diverse community to achieve excellence in music education and appreciate the transformative power of music. CMS employs 25 professional teachers who provide private lessons and group classes to over 300 students of all ages, from toddlers to seniors, in piano, strings, brass, woodwinds, percussion, voice, and recording technology; both in-person and online. CMS offers introductory group classes, such as Kindermusik, Kids Choir, and Modern Band that provide music fundamentals, while Big Band and House Band ensembles offer collaborative free performance opportunities for intermediate and advanced students. Thanks to support from our philanthropic community, for over 40 years, CMS has provided over 25,000 student services in the Lehigh Valley with the life-long benefits of a quality music education and free performance opportunities. Over 50% of students under age 18 receive financial assistance funded by generous donors. Located in the former Lehigh Valley Social Club at historic 1544 Hamilton Street in Allentown, CMS offers 12 lesson rooms of varying sizes, a unique parent lounge, early childhood room, music library, administrative offices, state-of-the-art recording studio, and a 150-seat recital hall. Kindermusik, through our partners at Sing N Move, is a music and movement program designed for children ages 0-4. Through the introduction of fundamental music concepts, your child will build confidence, reach developmental milestones, and create special memories. Weekly group sessions with children and caregivers help build the skills children need to be successful in both school and life.

Kindermusik runs in four-week sessions from September through May. Classes are 45 minutes, once a week on Wednesdays. Each session includes a download of the supplemental music & materials. You can sign up for just one session or keep the fun going throughout the year. Every session brings a new theme and exciting activities!

Do you love teaching music and inspiring the next generation of musicians? Community Music School is hiring part-time music teachers!

We're looking for experienced teachers specializing in advanced violin, flute, brass, or piano who are passionate about working with students of all ages and backgrounds. Positions are available at both our Lehigh Valley (Allentown) and Berks (Reading) studios.

What we offer:
• $32–$35/hour, based on experience
• Flexible weekday afternoon/evening schedule (10–15+ hours/week)

Qualifications:

We are pleased to welcome Jennifer Stone to our distinguished CMS piano faculty. She is now available for private lessons in piano on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in Allentown. Jennifer Stone holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, where her studies included coursework in music education and child pedagogy. She has played piano for over two decades, including seven years of intensive study under Juilliard alumna Stella Xu. Jennifer specializes in classical piano pedagogy, sight-reading, music theory, advanced technique, and ABRSM examination preparation. 📣 CMS is pleased to announce Dr. Deborah Justice as its new Executive Director. A seasoned arts leader, educator, and musician, Dr. Justice brings more than 20 years of experience in nonprofit leadership and higher education as she succeeds longtime Executive Director Jeff Reed, who is retiring after more than 11 years of dedicated service to CMS.

“I’m excited to start as Executive Director here at CMS,” said Dr. Justice. “Making music has continually been central to my life, and I know how important access to musical education is to creating both well-rounded individuals and strong communities.” 🎶

Community Music School is pleased to announce that Joey Osisek, Director of Product Management, Instruments for C.F. Martin & Co. was recently elected to a three-year term on the CMS Board of Directors. Better known as "Joey O," he has spent the last 37 years making music and building a career in the musical instrument industry. Of CMS he shared, "I was fortunate enough to catch the tail end of a Modern Band Ensemble class. My heart wanted to explode for these kids, and the gift of music and community that school and teachers are providing." Welcome, Joey!

👏 We are pleased to welcome Audrey Pinczok (Hoffman) to our distinguished CMS woodwind faculty. She is now available for private lessons in clarinet, saxophone, and flute here at CMS. Mrs. Pinczok holds a B.M. in Music Education, cm laude, from Penn State University, where she served as Clarinet Section Leader of the Marching Blue Band and performed with the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and chamber ensembles. An active educator and performer, Audrey currently serves as the Elementary Instrumental Music Teacher and Assistant Marching Band Director at Palmerton Area School District.
