Getting ready to head over to the Queen’s Palace for the Glow & Go block Party being hosted by theAllen Park DDA. The event is a dance party from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm.

It’s inside so heat and rain don’t matter. Everything at this party is free: face painting, caricatures, temporary tattoos, snacks, music, and balloons. All free, just like the music.

There are no vendors this time,so not even a temptation to buy things.

Hopefully we’ll see a lot of our friends today!

The Weekly Update (August 30, 2026)

Yet another week where the weather didn't cooperate. We did Chass Mercado on Thursday, the Allen Park Farmer's Market on Friday, and a Touch-Truck for Gibraltar / Rockwood Rotary Club on Saturday. Sunday started with rain and the weather app said thunderstorms, so we didn't twist today.

Next week is another busy one. Mick will be at Shelters School on Tuesday for a back to school event; Steve will be at a shelter in Flint as part of a night of pampering for residents. Thursday we'll be at the CHASS Center for Chass Mercado from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. Later that day we'll be at the Glow & Go Block Party from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Queen's Palace; this one is intended for kids and, like all the block parties, is free to attend. Sunday will find us at the Sunday Socials.

There is no Allen Park Farmers Market this week due to the holiday.

Thursdays and Fridays are Farmer's Market days. Today I was at CHASS Center for Chass Mercado. Since it runs 9:00 am - 1:00 pm, the start of school means it's not quite as busy for me as it had been. Definitely worth visiting if you've never been.

Tomorrow is the Allen Park Farmers Market from 3:00 pm -7:00 pm. We're going in with the expectation that we'll be playing second-fiddle to Animal Magic, but we're okay wit that. Be there at 4:30 pm on Friday to see the start of the show.

The Weekly Update (August 23, 2026)

We had a pretty busy week. On Tuesday, we did a Summer Check In for Woodhaven-Brownstown Schools. On Thursday, we had Chass Mercado in the morning and the Roar & Score block party for the Allen Park DDA in the afternoon. Friday found Steve at the Allen Park Farmers Market and Mick at a Pep Rally for Southgate Anderson High School. Saturday we got rained out as did all our scheduled events. On Sunday, Steve did a back to school party for the Downriver Foster Closet and Mick did the Sunday Socials.

On Wednesday from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm we'll be at a birthday party for Harris Park being put on by the Van Buren Township DDA. On Thursday we'll be at CHASS Center for the weekly Mercado from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. Friday we'll be at the Allen Park Farmers Market from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Saturday will find us at Mercure Park for a Touch-a-Truck being held by Gibraltar / Rockwood Rotary Club from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Sunday we'll be at family fun day for a church and at the Sunday Socials in Wyandotte from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm.

The Weekly Update (August 16, 2026)

Weather and medical issues created some trouble this week, but we still got 3 events in. We were at a school event in Taylor on Tuesday. On Thursday we were at CHASS Center for their Farmer's Market and on Friday we were at the Allen Park Farmers Market.

This week, we'll be at the Summer Check in for Brownstown's Elementary Summer Program, On Thursday, we'll be at Chass Mercado from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. Later that day we'll be a the Allen Park DDA's Roar & Score Block Party from 4:00 pm to dark. Friday we'll be at the Allen Park Farmers Market from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm and at the Southgate Anderson Pep Rally from 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm. Saturday, we'll be at the Allen Park Volleyball Outdoor Summer Slam from 2:00 pm - dark. Sunday is another split day as we'll be twisting at the Sunday Socials from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm and at a back to school event for Downriver Foster Closet.

The Weekly Update (August 9, 2026)

We had pretty big week this week. We started out at the Chass Center on Wednesday for National Health Care week, then we were back on Thursday for the Chass Mercado. Later on Thursday we were at the Allen Park DDA's block party. On Friday and Saturday we were at the Allen Park Street Fair and in Sunday we were at the Wyandotte Rotary club's Family Day and also at the Sunday Socials. All told we put in about 40 hours of twisting this week.

Next week is busy too. On Tuesday, we're doing a back to school event for a school. Thursday, we'll be back at the CHASS Center for the Mercado from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. Friday is the Allen Park Farmers Market market from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm. On Saturday, well be at Millward Park for a Community Picnic being put on by the APCCF from noon to 4:00 pm, then we'll head out to family campout hosted by one of the Metro Parks.

The Weekly Update, August 2, 2026

Another busy week! We did a Back to School Dance at the Allen Park Community Center on Friday as well as the Allen Park Farmers Market. We spent our weekend at VFW halls: on Saturday we were in Taylor for their District Picnic and on Sunday we were in Brownstown as part of the after-party for Charley's Ride which raised fund for Leukemia awarness.

This week is even busier. We're at the CHASS Center on Wednesday from 9:00 am to noon as part of their celebration of National Health Center week. We'll be back on Thursday from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm for Chass Mercado. On Thursday evening, we'll join the Allen Park DDA for their Mariachi & Mercado Block Party from 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Friday and Saturday, we'll be at the Allen Park Street Fair from 10:00 am - 9:00 pm both days. We'll also be at Summer Sizzle in Romulus from 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Sunday will find us at Family Day for Wyandotte Rotary from Noon - 3:00 pm and at the Sunday Socials from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm.
