Aledo Opera House Entertaining Since 1904 - Movies, Music & More Originally constructed as the Aledo Roller Skating Rink, the building was converted into an opera house in 1904.

The Aledo Opera House, located in downtown Aledo, Illinois, is a historic entertainment venue with roots dating back to 1885. Over its history, it has hosted cultural, social, and entertainment events, including live theater, music, and cinema. In 2016, the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places as a contributing structure to the Downtown Aledo Historic District. In 2024, major renovation began on the structure with the intent to operate as a movie theater and performing arts venue. Today, the Aledo Opera House offers a rare opportunity to watch movies in a historic setting with a unique character that can't be matched by modern movie theaters. The theater has 200 seats on its main floor and relaxed lounge seating in the mezzanine.

Ghostbusters will be showing Oct 16th-21st. The Iowa Ghostbusters will be in attendance on Oct 17th for the 6:00 & 8:00 showings.

Fall Fest is almost here! Just one week from today, Saturday October 17, from 10AM-10PM, Downtown Aledo has something for everyone! This awesome event is in collaboration with Ferg's Public House annual Fergtoberfest. We will have vendors, the Alley Art chalk art event (all ages welcome), great fall food both at Ferg's and in the park, and great live music all day and evening, featuring The Clintstone's from 6-10pm. There will be a volleyball tournament run by the Mercer County Family YMCA, contact them for more information.

Need an inside break? Head to the Aledo Opera House for Monsters, Inc. or Ghostbusters. Downtown businesses like Odd Bettie’s , Sweet Repeats Resale & Mini Craft Mall, The Alley Marketplace, Downtown Bricks (the local Lego store), and Mary Go Round(children's resale) are all just steps away from the festival and will be open. Make sure you stop in to see all they have to offer!
