MEET THE TEAM:
Executive Chef + Food Stylist + Recipe Developer
Rishon has been on property at The Lumpkin House since May 2024 executing a variety of cuisines to serve our event clients at 3 Acre.
Rishon Hanners Melton has worked in the food service industry for 20 years, starting as a teenager at her parent’s cafe in South Sauty (Langston, AL). She’s a local Guntersville High alumni and a graduate of The University of Alabama with a Bachelor’s in Journalism. She then trained and earned her Culinary Arts degree from Johnson & Wales University in Denver.
As a Food Stylist and Recipe developer, Rishon combines her passion for art, design, and media with her knowledge and skill for food. She has worked across various brands including Southern Living and Food & Wine.
Rishon and her husband Chris relocated back to the area in 2021 and welcomed their son, Everett, in 2023.
Rishon is an integral part of our culinary team and executes the high demand and volume of our event culinary productions with ease. We have some great plans ahead to bring new things to the surrounding communities!

WHY YOU STARTED COOKING?: I’m good at it naturally! Well… and I like to eat.
FAVORITE FOOD: Food of the moment is currently expensive butter on white bread with fresh radish.
FOOD INSPIRATION: Mother Nature; food is all around and I love to cook with inspiration for every season.
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THE SOUTH: I don’t love the humidity: morning shower followed by an instant outdoor shower. But, we talk a lot and I fit in!
DIRTY LITTLE SECRET: I hate reading a recipe. I prefer to skim over it and cook on the fly.
