As a wedding dj I’m asked lots of times why I chose that career path or what do I enjoy about being a dj. I’ve given answers over the years that are accurate but as I was talking with a 23 year old guy that just married his high school sweetheart I realized a lot that I’d forgotten about.

I am a dj first and foremost because I was blessed years ago with a young lady named Summer and her mom Beth. I was a sound tech at Albemarle First Assembly and had never djed a wedding in my life. But on this special day a wonderful lady named Beth Farmer and her recently engaged daughter took not only a chance on me but they believed in me!!! Little ole Terry Harleson a truck driver from Albemarle, NC was asked to do something so out of my comfort zone that honestly thinking back it was God and only God using Beth to reach out to me and teach me that I had a special ability that I never realized I had. Not to learn and appreciate music. Yes that was important. Not to be a business owner. And truthfully I’m ok at it but I honestly don’t look at myself as owning or possessing something. It’s not mine. It belongs all to God. And there’s several other things I could say about what I learned recently because of Beth. Because of God. And here’s the important part.

I was defeated totally defeated and I didn’t even realize it. But God did. I was looking for a purpose. For a way to make a difference. I am a very tenderhearted person and I have a love for people. All people!! I don’t care if we are different in every way possible. We are still Gods child. All of us!!!! I sometimes go way beyond my boundaries or limits to help or serve others. I don’t ever want to turn people away or tell them no.

And I know this is long but here’s the entire point of this post. I’m so very blessed. Not because of money or business but because God used a lady and her daughter on their most special day to reach me!!! So if you need dj services and I’m available then I’ll do all that I can to make each and every event the best possible!!

Not because of money or popularity but because of the fact that it’s exactly what God expects from me!! I love you all!!!!!

I found this from 7 years ago when it was first posted. And it’s still true to this day. I have been very blessed to have the ability to be a DJ and I appreciate each and every person that has made my company so successful. I keep my prices down for this very reason.
