Mondayyyy Motivationalll… ❤️🙌

Every day we’re given a whole lot of choices.

But one choice I try my very best to make over and over again is to encourage and inspire somebody. ✨

Brandon Lake has a song that says, “I don’t always feel it, but that’s when I need it the most…” 🎶

Who elseee feelsss THAT?! 🙋‍♂️❤️

Because the truth is, sometimes I want to stay wrapped up in my own head.

We all get there from time to time. And for some of us pushing through our own thoughts can be a DAILY battle. Some days… an hourly one. 🧠💭

So today, I’m posting this as much for ME as I am for anybody reading it: ♥️ Be kind to your own mind. ❤️

I am living proof that nobody can be harder on me… than ME. 😅

After a bad day, I encourage somebody else.
After disappointing news, I encourage.
After unexpected changes, I encourage.
When things don’t go the way I hoped… I still try to encourage. 🙏

But somewhere in all of that, I sometimes forget to extend that same grace to myself.

And THAT has been one of the harder lessons for me. ❤️‍🩹

So today, I’m asking y’all to join me.

Regardless of the responsibilities waiting on you… regardless of what didn’t get done yesterday… regardless of whatever battle is happening inside your own head…

Today, CHOOSE GRACE. 🙌❤️

Saturday in Prairieville, I had a conversation with a lady outside our trailer. She thanked me for the positivity and encouragement and simply told me that I was making a difference.

That stuck with me. ❤️

Because THAT is what this has always been about for us.

And today… I’m choosing to tell myself the same thing she told me. 🙏

Sometimes encouragement comes through a Facebook post. Sometimes it happens outside a food trailer, standing in line for a bus, walking through an airport, or passing somebody in a shopping center.

And sometimes…

the person who needs your encouragement the most is YOU. ❤️✨

Be kind to your own mind today, y’all.

Give yourself some of the same grace you’re so willing to give everybody else. 🙏❤️

We believe in our food… but we’re supposed to. 😂

It hits completely different when somebody comes out, gives us a shot, and then takes the time to say something like THIS.

Comments like these mean more than just “good food.” They tell us that the long hours, the prep, the travel, the mess, the stress, and all the little things behind the scenes are worth it.

To hear someone say it was “the best seafood I’ve ever had”… whewww. That’ll make us smile BIG. ❤️🦐🦀

Holden, Springfield, Hammond, Ponchatoula, just a hop and a skip away…

Y’all… this week has been INCREDIBLE.

We started it off right here in Albany on Thursday, and y’all BROUGHT IT! ❤️

Then Friday, we took a little stroll over to Denham Springs… and THEY BROUGHT ITTTT! 🙌

Yesterday, we carried The Backyard Boil over to our friends in Ascension Parish… and Prairieville SHOWED OUTTTT! 🔥

Soooo today…

WE’RE BRINGING IT BACK HOME to put that exclamation point on the end of an amazing week!! 😂🙌

🚨❤️ CAUGHT DOING RIGHT ❤️🚨

We launched this initiative several months back, but it never really gained much traction.

Lately though… it’s been on my heart BIG time. 🙏❤️

We were recently asked if we give food to kids who make good grades. 📚👏

And listen… anyone who knows me knows I’m ALL about encouraging kids. I spent several years of my life leading youth groups in church, and I absolutely believe hard work in school deserves to be recognized. 🙌

But I started thinking…

What about the child who may struggle academically for whatever reason, but is constantly caught doing something kind, respectful, selfless, or honorable? ❤️

Doesn’t THAT deserve recognition too?! 👀

I think it does. 💯

Soooo… we’re bringing Caught Doing Right back. 🔥

And this time, I’ll start it. ❤️

Today, while we were serving, a gentleman came to our window asking if we had jumper cables. 🚗🔋

The Jeep next to him wouldn’t start. He had already tried using his jump box, but it just didn’t have enough power.

Now here’s the part that got me… 👇

He could’ve easily said, “Well, I tried,” and walked away.

It wasn’t even his vehicle.

But instead, he kept trying. He came looking for jumper cables, stayed there, and went the extra mile to help a complete stranger get back on the road. 🙌❤️

Y’all… THAT is what Caught Doing Right is about. 👏🔥

Doing something good when you don’t have to.
Helping when it would be easier to walk away.
Choosing kindness when nobody is expecting anything from you. ❤️

That kind of thing still gives me hope in people. 🙏

And to the couple in the photo… I’m sorry, I didn’t catch your names! 😅 If y’all see this, PLEASE comment below so we can properly recognize you. 👇❤️

They had already purchased a meal from us, but we wanted to show our appreciation, so we treated them to a lobster tail and an extra pound of shrimp as a small way of saying:

We saw what you did. And it mattered. 🦞🦐❤️

That’s what this is about, y’all. 🙌

Not just rewarding grades.
Not just rewarding achievements.
But rewarding CHARACTER. ❤️🔥

So if you catch a kid, teenager, adult, teacher, neighbor, stranger… ANYBODY doing something genuinely good…

It’s crazy that I even have to post this… but here we goooo. 😅

Anyone who knows seafood should know crawfish aren’t in season right now, and if they are… I’m not paying some crazy price for them. My vendor doesn’t start until around January… so Crawfish in October is crazy to me😂🤣🤯

And if you actually read the post, you’d see that I simply asked what your favorite seafood was, said mine was crawfish even though they aren’t in season yet, and used crawfish photos with the post.

Somehow that turned into me “using it as a marketing ploy.” 🤦‍♂️

So let me be clear…

That’s not who I am.
That’s not what The Backyard Boil is about.
I’m not here to mislead people, be petty, stir up drama, or spread negativity.

I actually challenge anybody who feels differently to follow along with us for a while. Watch how we operate. Watch how we treat people. Watch how transparent we try to be.

Even though that post had a TON of engagement, I deleted it because the last thing I want is for anybody to feel confused or misled because of a picture.

That’s it. No drama. No negativity.

We’ll keep doing what we do, and we’ll keep trying to do it the right way. ❤️
