🎭🥳Our Theatre Camps for Middle School and High School had a successful first day! Congratulations to Emilio Lucio on securing the role of Kevin Rosario in “In the Heights” at PSJA Tri-City theatre. Keep representing Vela with pride! We also commend our incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th graders for their impressive auditions and outstanding representation of VMS at the PSJA Rising Stars camp for “The Lion King”. 🎭❤️🦁Hey there, this message is for VMS incoming 6th, 6th and 7th graders! If you’re excited about the Theatre Camps this summer for the PSJA Rising Stars “The Lion King” musical at PSJA High School, great news! ⭐️✨AUDITIONS ⭐️✨ are happening today and tomorrow! If you’ve got a song or performance ready to go, that’s fantastic! But no worries if you don’t—the directors are happy to help you prepare on both days. You can audition today, tomorrow, or just one of those days. Auditions will be at the PSJA High School Theatre from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on both days. 🎭The following message is for parents and guardians of our VMS current 8th graders whom will be attending the Summer Theatre Camps this summer for Tri-City, “in the Heights” at PSJA Southwest:
This summer promises to be an exciting and unique experience for our students, and we truly value your support, assistance, and feedback as we navigate this journey together.
We will be holding a parent meeting on Saturday, June 6 at 2:00 PM in the PSJA Southwest Auditorium. During this meeting, we will review the rehearsal schedule, expectations, and guidelines to ensure the best possible experience for both you and your child. We value your involvement and want to keep you informed every step of the way.

🎭❤️Our theatre department’s fabulous performers, designers and tech operators deserve a huge round of applause! The students in our show “Walk Two Moons,” gave an incredible, beautiful, and remarkably enjoyable performance. The entire theater buzzed with excitement! Our students poured their hearts and souls onto that stage, and for that, my heart is very happy. After all was said and done, (and a tough, incredibly talented lineup!) the judges placed us in the top four and we graciously accept!
🏅Jesus Serna, 8th grader, and 🏅Janelle Martinez, 7th grader, were honored with prestigious awards for their exceptional acting and in their performances. 🏅Asael Vargas, 8th grader, received a Tech award for his outstanding sound operation. Additionally, four Theatre design projects from our talented design team were recognized yesterday. 🏅Kylee Gonzales (set design), 8th grade, 🏅Maricruz Deleon, 7th grade (costume and makeup design) and 🏅Kenzie Cano (costume design), 6th grade were the recipients of these top design awards. Their creative work is featured below. I want to express my deepest gratitude to our teachers, office staff, UIL coordinator, and administrators for their unwavering support of the Theatre Department at Vela Middle School. And to my students, I want to say a heartfelt thank you!

📢📢🎭 On Saturday, May 2nd, the PSJA District UIL One Act Play contest and the PSJA District Theatre Design contest will be held concurrently. Please arrive at the PSJA High Theater by 4:30pm to catch Jesus Jesse Vela's show "Walk Two Moons" and stay for the awards assembly and results for both the One Act Play contest and the Theatre Design contest under the direction of Ms. Lynda Serna. 🎭❤️
