I wrote this for a wedding couple:

IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO
LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER

Our story didn’t start as “Once Upon A Time”;
We had hardships in real life, not fairy tales.
Neither was looking for magical happenings,
Nor someone to lie upon our beds of nails.

But Life doesn’t listen to hearts that are bruised;
Our plans are useless to what is in store.
When hearts are involved, no matter how battered,
There is always room left for loving some more.

The King in his castle found love just this way,
His Queen gave her heart for love it did mend;
It’s never too late for happily ever after
Our love is too strong for the magic to end.

The Wish (partial)

One night I wished upon a star and thought that was absurd.
How could a wish sent into the sky have the power to grant
That which was most dear to my heart?

The thing that I most wanted was not a thing at all.
But a yearning within my heart for what we all want.
A love that wanted me for me and not a made-up doll.

Then one day while I wasn’t looking you came into my life,
Full force like a hurricane’s wind; gentle as a butterfly’s wings.
You melted my heart with your heart of love and acceptance.

This poem was written just because my heart insisted that I write it:

LOVE

Ah, Love, you grabbed hold my heart
When my head wasn’t ready.
You stole my breath with your strength;
My life became less than steady,

Like a gentle breeze, you walked through the door
And like a hurricane, you showed your power.
Did you think of my life, when you slipped in,
So quiet and still at some unknown hour?

Don’t get me wrong, this is not a complaint
But the truth spoken truly;
For I am much better with you at my side
Oh, Love, you walk with me surely!

Before you, my life was so lifeless,
But I didn’t know it was so.
Now that you have stolen my heart,
I guess that you should know, Love –

My addiction to you ever grows stronger
I’ll never let you go, now or forever!
