The University of Akron School of Music is delighted to welcome Matthew Jaroszewicz as Assistant Lecturer - Director of Orchestras.

Matthew Jenkins Jaroszewicz is thrilled to be joining the faculty at the University of Akron School of Music as Director of Orchestras. He recently concluded an eight-year tenure with the Canton Symphony Orchestra, during which he served as Assistant Conductor and Associate Conductor under the late Gerhardt Zimmermann before taking over as Music Director in the fall of 2024. Alongside his work in Akron, he is entering his ninth season as Conductor of the Canton Youth Symphony Advanced Orchestra. He has conducted symphonies of Vaughan Williams, Mahler, Elgar, Beethoven, Brahms, Sibelius, Dvořák, Price, Hanson, Hailstork, Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Schumann, Mendelssohn, Borodin, Beach, and more. He has had the privilege of collaborating with Grammy Award winners Garrick Ohlsson, Terence Blanchard, and Dashon Burton, along with many other top-notch soloists. He served as Co-Founder and Artistic Director of Apotheosis Opera in New York City from 2014 to 2017, where he led productions of operas by Wagner, Puccini, and Richard Strauss. Matthew received his Bachelor of Arts in Music from Brown University and his Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting at Mannes College of Music, where he studied under David Hayes. Off the podium, Matthew enjoys singing, skiing, swimming, cycling, running, and triathlons, and is a devoted baseball and football fan.

The University of Akron School of Music is delighted to welcome Dr. T.J. Harper as Visiting Assistant Professor - Director of Choral Studies.

Dr. Harper is a specialist in Choral Music Performance, Choral Pedagogy and Methodology, Conducting, and Vocal Performance. Choirs under his direction have performed at annual conferences for the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), the California Choral Directors Association (CCDA), a featured performance at Carnegie Hall, and international performances by invitation to Austria, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Italy, and Spain.

Dr. Harper maintains an active schedule in the US and abroad as a guest conductor, clinician, and jury member. He has received invitations as conductor, clinician and lecturer throughout the United States and internationally with engagements in Argentina, Chile, China, Costa Rica, Cuba, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Myanmar, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, and Venezuela.

Dr. Harper recently held positions as Board Member for the International Federation of Choral Music (IFCM), the past Chair of the ACDA Standing Committee on International Activities, and the Director of the ACDA International Conductors Exchange Program. He was the President of the Rhode Island Music Educators Association (RIMEA) and the President of the Rhode Island chapter of the American Choral Directors Association. Dr. Harper received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Southern California where he graduated with honors.

The University of Akron School of Music is delighted to welcome Hannah Moses as Assistant Lecturer - Cello.

Cellist Hannah Moses enjoys a vibrant career as both performer and educator. A Cleveland native, Moses holds degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music and Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music, where her teachers have included Richard Weiss, Melissa Kraut, and Norman Fischer. As the founding cellist of the Callisto Quartet, Moses enjoys an active concert schedule and has appeared at venues and festivals across the globe, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Heidelberg String Quartet Festival, and more. Callisto has garnered top prizes at many major international chamber music competitions, including
Grand Prize at the 2018 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, Second Prize at the 2019 Banff International String Quartet Competition, and prizes at the Bordeaux, Melbourne, and Wigmore Hall Competitions.

A committed educator, Moses assisted in creating a unique chamber music curriculum with the Callisto Quartet entitled “Chamber Music Deconstructed,” which has been successfully received in schools across the country. Moses is currently Cello Professor at the University of Akron and Kent State University, and is an active member of Northeast Ohio’s musical community, most recently having joined the board of the Cleveland Cello Society. Moses is actively involved in coaching chamber music at the Chamber Music Connection in Worthington, Ohio, and has taught as summer faculty at Kent Blossom, Rocky Ridge Music, Credo Chamber Music, Bravo International Music Festival, and the Hudson Montessori School Chamber Music Intensive. When not traveling with the Callisto Quartet, Moses enjoys running, rock climbing, and hanging out with her cats, Nutmeg and Carrot Cake. Moses plays on a 1780 John Betts cello on generous loan from the Ravinia Steans Institute.

The University of Akron School of Music is delighted to welcome Adam Keeler as Assistant Lecturer - Classical Guitar.

Adam Keeler is an accomplished guitarist, educator, and composer with over two decades of experience as a performer and teacher. He teaches individual instruction, directs the Guitar Ensemble, and guides students across music electives, minors, and majors. He has also taught at Ashland University, Laurel School, Westlake Music Academy and Kenyon College.

Beyond teaching, Adam is the founder of RedEarthMusic, LLC, through which he composes for diverse projects including video games, documentaries, and podcasts, while also working as a recording engineer and producer. His compositions have been featured on platforms such as Steam (Write Warz, Dreams and Nightmares), YouTube (), and Apple Music (Adam Keeler), and his performances span from intimate church services to international festivals and university concerts.

Adam holds both a Master of Music and a Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance from the University of Akron, and has studied with world-renowned guitarist Pierre Bensusan in France. He has earned recognition as a two-time finalist in the James Stroud Classical Guitar Competition and was named Undergraduate of the Year twice during his studies. Dedicated to musical growth in all its forms, Adam brings together artistry, education, and innovation in his work as a performer, professor, and collaborator.

Celebrate Distinguished Professor Dr. Larry Snider's first 50 years of university teaching, including 48 years at The University of Akron, with UA's "ambassadors to summer," the UA Steel Drum Band. Liam Teague, the "Paganini of the Steelpan," joins the band and percussion alumni for a once in 50 years celebration.
