Mark your calendar! The Festival of Trees will return during Akron's Hometown Christmas on Wednesday, December 9. Help us fill the opera house with holiday spirit by decorating a tree - individuals, families, organizations and businesses are all welcome! We provide the tree, you bring the lights and decorations.

We will also host the Wreaths for a Reason silent auction with decorated wreaths, holiday decor, themed gift baskets and more. All proceeds to benefit the opera house building fund.

Watch for details and sign-ups in October!

It's not too early to start thinking about Hometown Christmas! We've adjusted the date slightly so mark your calendar and start planning the fun.

Thank you to the Akron Community Foundation!

This spring, the Akron Opera House received a grant for equipment and supplies for the building. We were able to purchase items that will improve the experience for our guests, performers and volunteers, including storage cabinets for newspaper clippings and show posters, office equipment and furniture; lights, stands and chairs for musicians; and tables, chairs and supplies for the street level space.

We're getting in on the sidewalk sale fun in Akron this week! We have opened paint cans from set painting that will be available for a donation to the opera house building fund - some fun colors that would be perfect for small projects! Stop by the opera house from 2pm to 6pm on Thursday, June 25, to see what is available and make a donation.

If there are any A-W high school students who are looking to complete service hours for National Honor Society, Silver Cord or other organizations, we can help! :-) The Akron Opera House has several painting and cleaning projects that we'd love your help with! It’s one of our favorite days of the year!! We appreciate the help of students and Mr. Schuknecht on A-W’s annual community service day — chairs are stacked and covered, floors are swept and mopped, new office furniture and storage cabinets are assembled and much more. Thank you!!!!
