Indigenous People’s Day seems the perfect opportunity for me to say that during this downtime from my business as we have settled into European living, I have had some time to reflect and learn and it has become clear to me that calling some of my design work “dreamcatchers” has been wrong, in a number of ways, and I am sincerely sorry for it.

After more research, I realize that beyond it being unacceptable for me to claim the name of a Native design and attribute it to my work, it’s also simply inaccurate. The pieces I design are in no way qualified to be called dreamcatchers, and from here on out you will no longer see me using that term in reference to what I do.

I will continue (hopefully soon), however, to bring you the beautiful floral decor you know me for, with the promise that as I know and learn better, I will strive to do better.

We are Native all the other days too.

A little Abilene spotlight for your Wednesday!

I’ve been hearing about Papi's Pinchos and Puerto Rican cuisine for a little while now and happened upon them today serving lunch. They were so kind and personable and when I asked them to surprise me instead of choosing my order—

They 👏🏼 came 👏🏼 through 👏🏼

Even my 2 year old who has apparently decided she’s a vegetarian downed this chicken! And those salted plantains are something else 🤤

It has been a hot second since I’ve had a request for a floral crown and I almost declined as our big move draws nearer. I’m so glad that I didn’t. I really didn’t realize how much I missed making crowns! I think this one proves I’ve still got that touch 👑.

This mama to be (and her adorable bump) is going to be a goddess for photos tonight!
