Windhoek, Ongaipe!

We are thrilled to share that I’ll be at the Namibia Annual Wedding Expo & Summit scheduled for the 19th and 20th of September at the Windhoek International Convention Centre as one of the keynote speakers

My session? All about the power of destination weddings, why wedding tourism is Africa’s next big thing, and how cross-border collaborations can transform our industry.

If you’re a couple dreaming of saying “I do” in a whole other city (or country!), a vendor curious about scaling your services beyond borders, or just love all things weddings this is where you need to be!

Come! Let’s grow, connect, and dream bigger together.

See you in Windhoek💛

Should grooms cry at the altar, or is it just overrated pressure?

Some say yes, tears show depth, vulnerability, and pure love. A groom shedding a few tears can be a truly iconic moment.

Others argue no emotional expression shouldn’t be forced. The pressure to cry can feel performative, and not every heart shows itself the same way.

Bottom line from this wedding planner, authenticity always wins. Whether it’s tears, smiles, or a confident nod let the moment reflect you, not society’s expectations.

How to Pull Off a Destination Wedding 500+ KM and a whole passport stamp Away

If we are to be totally real, planning a wedding in a whole different city and country is not for the faint of heart!

IT TAKES
1. Great communication skills, because you’ll be leading vendors you might never meet until event day.

2. Architectural eye, that gives you an opportunity to see the space in 3D before you even get there.

3. Time management, every site visit, every zoom call, every shipment counts.

4. A detailed playbook, timelines, vendor deliverables, contingency plans… nothing left to chance.

5. A collaborative team, planners, decorators, logistics crew,
everyone willing to go the extra 500km.

6. A collaborative bride is key! 🤍

Oh, and sprinkle in patience, resilience, and the ability to breathe and stay in control when the items imported for the wedding arrive a few hours to the day, because THIS is where excellence meets grace under pressure.

Are you planning a destination wedding? Drop your biggest fear or question about planning far from home in the comments, let’s talk about it!

When the “gift” comes with fine print…
Use this vendor.
Wear this color.
Get married there.

Abaaafe! whose wedding is this again? 🤔

Sometimes the “help” comes with more conditions than your actual vows. 🙄

Let’s talk about it are these gifts really gifts or masked bargaining chips?

Drop your thoughts in the comments – should couples stand their ground or go with the flow to keep the peace?

Not the one where every light hits just right, and the couple never breaks a sweat.
Not the one where no one fights, cries, or forgets their lines.

Real weddings?
They have power trips, family drama, flower girls who refuse to walk, and cake tables that almost tip.
And you know what? That’s the magic!

The beauty is in the chaos, in the laughter between takes.

So don’t chase the perfect grid.
Chase the moment. Live the day.
Let the photos tell the story messy, real, and unforgettable.

I once had a bride tell me she woke up at 3AM, panicking about whether the cake table would widen enough to fit the cake she had chosen!

Another spoke of how she had booked her dress designer, hairstylist and makeup trials ON THE SAME DAY! In her mind she probably thought these were all 1 hour appointments!

That’s the chaos no one warns you about.

But here’s the flip side, when you have a professional handling your wedding the timelines, the vendors, the details that chaos never reaches you. You get to breathe, to be present, to enjoy the moment. Your only job is to walk down the aisle looking radiant.

We’ll carry the rest.

Wedding Planning. The Ubuntu Way, Evolved 🤍

In the old days, weddings were built on Ubuntu ‘I am because we are.’ Everyone pitched in. Aunties cooked, uncles fetched chairs, cousins ran errands, and the whole village made it happen.

It was beautiful… but also exhausting.

Today, you can still have that deep Ubuntu connection laughing, hugging, and truly being present with your people without carrying the weight of the logistics. That’s where a wedding planner steps in.

We handle the timelines, the vendors, the endless little details… so you can show up free, heart open, fully in the moment.

Because Ubuntu is about being together not being too busy to connect.
