Last night, we had a smaller group than we had expected, but interestingly, it didn’t seem to matter much once the conversations began.

One thing these gatherings continue to remind me is that the quality of a room isn’t determined by how many people are in it. It’s determined by whether people feel comfortable enough to be curious, honest, and present with one another.

The Gentle Mixer was designed to help spark conversation, but the most memorable moments usually happen after people stop thinking about the prompts and start sharing what’s actually on their minds.

Grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make it another thoughtful evening.

These evenings are designed for people who enjoy meaningful conversations but don’t always enjoy the usual ways of meeting people.

Small groups, a calm atmosphere, and just enough structure to make things feel easier.

A lot of people quietly believe they’re just not good at socializing.

But most of the time, that’s not the truth.

It’s the environment.

Too loud. Too crowded. Too unstructured. Too performative.

Put the same person in a calmer space, with the right pace and a bit of intention, and everything changes.

The problem isn’t always you.
Sometimes it’s just the room.
