THE STORY
I had the pleasure of meeting Tishanna through Freetown during Into The Red's first ESCAPE music series. She had such impressive organizational skills! For a talented singer with such a creative and chaotic mind to also have the ability to rationally quiet and direct storms…well let’s just say she got my attention. In the months that followed I got to know a bit more about her - her passion for acting and directing (both of which she has excelled in), her scientific background (she used to live in the lab), her writing for magazines and publications here and abroad, and her stubbornness in accepting any other life other than one of her own making.
Her charisma was enchanting, and I knew that I wanted to work with Tishanna on a project just to experience what such a fusion could create. I brought her on at the beginning of the ESCAPE into F.A.M series, initially to coordinate the shows on the nights that she could (she was in demand both in her acting and consulting careers which took her out the country a bit). Every time I knew she was coming, a particularly large burden would immediately lift from my shoulders. She will come, she will ask what needs to be done, and she will do it .
Then the faithful night came when our scheduled Host had an emergency call away. I banged my head while making calls and attempting to mitigate what could be a mini disaster when it struck me – I have a superhero on my team who can literally do ANYTHING. I called Tishanna and told her she had to do this for me as she was my only hope. After giving me some choice lip for the last minute nature of my request, she told me not to worry and asked if I needed anything else that night…. And there it was, that lift off of my shoulders.
I will be honest here – having never seen Tishanna host or even act at that point (even though I had heard raving reviews from everyone and their mother about her), I had my mini fears. I wondered if it was too much pressure to put on someone a mere two hours before an event was to begin to just jump in and host. Then Tishanna opened her mouth…
At that exact moment, I decided to indefinitely book Tishanna for the rest of my life, my child’s life, my child’s child life…for as long as she may live!!! She is one of the most natural, gifted, hilarious, eloquent and powerful hosts I have ever been honored to witness. See her here in this picture, in what I would describe as her true form – poised with passion, and ready to win over your heart! She has won my heart, my deepest gratitude and my uttermost respect.
