My favourite NGO has done it again. Thank you, Freedom To Rise for spare heading this very needed very timely Breast Cancer Awareness program conducted at Coryal Secondary. I was moved by this project and chose to donate a Balloon Mosaic Cancer Awareness Ribbon . It in its self became a focal point where the participants took pictures by . I personally was overwhelmed by seeing all the beautiful pictures from the days activities. It was just about wearing pink, but receiving valuable information that can save lives!

What a whirlwind and an absolute blast at the Eastyard Amplify Connect Creative Social Enterprise Summit 2025 17th October , Friday! 🚀✨
​So much love, energy, and creativity went into this day:

👗 Crafting my display balloon dress
🎤 Prepping the speech
​But the real magic? The official launch of the P.U.M.P.E.D Balloon Twisting Workshop pilot! 🎈🥳
​It was supposed to be a small 30-min workshop for 10 kids (5-12)... instead, we ran back-to-back batches until 12:30 PM. for a room full of enthusiastic teens and adults! The response was truly unimaginable! 🤯
​Huge thanks to every single person who stopped by and pumped some air (and life!) into this launch. We're just getting started! 🔥

In Trinidad & Tobago, bullying in primary schools is rising. Over 77 suspensions were reported since 2022, and globally, 90% of students in grades 4–8 say they’ve been bullied or harassed.
Empathy isn’t optional. It’s urgent.
Through balloon art, storytelling, and peer-led support, P.U.M.P.E.D. helps children ages 5–12 build emotional intelligence, confidence, and connection one twist at a time.

Its an honour to be apart of the Eastyard Amplify Connect Fellowship and Accelerator Program. On Friday 17th October from 8am to 4pm at Arima Community Center. I will launch my creative social project .P.U.M.P.E.D which stands for Promoting Understanding Mindfulness and Positivity that Everyone Deserves. It's not just a balloon twisting workshop its about dealing with bullying in primary school-aged children through build emotional intelligence, understanding conflict resolution and fostering respect and togetherness through balloon twisting. Its a big task but I am inviting you all subject matter experts and interested persons to support this initiative.

Meet Alicia Buckmire, one of the voices you’ll hear at the Amplify Connect: Creative Social Enterprise Summit this Month.

At 41, Alicia is a dynamic creative entrepreneur with over 14 years of experience in children-inclusive event planning and a passion for turning imagination into unforgettable experiences. Her entrepreneurial spark has been alive since childhood, from selling sapodillas and mango chow to hosting playful competitions in her community.

Today, she is the proud founder of Amplified Event Essentials, a vibrant event service brand launched in 2024. The company offers face painting, balloon twisting, balloon workshops, specialty bouquets, event décor, micro event catering, and customizable prints, all designed to bring color and creativity to community celebrations.

With roots in costume design, Alicia began her creative journey on the kiddies carnival circuit under the late Marceline Alexander’s band, later renamed D New Vibes. Her work continues to inspire awe, most recently with a stunning balloon dress that became a crowd favorite at East Gates’ 2024 Easter Parade.

True to her tagline, “Turn up the magic, enhance the memory,” Alicia infuses every project with bold creativity and community-centered joy.

The parades and large gatherings might be scaled back, but the essence of what we are celebrating remains unchanged. Let's take a moment to reflect on the reason for our freedom, the courage, sacrifice, and determination of those who came before us.
As a personal tribute, I’m sharing a throwback montage from my visit to Tobago where I created a national inspired balloon ensemble, honouring our beautiful national birds. Our independence is a call to action. It's a reminder that our strength lies in our unity and our ability to overcome challenges together. Let's use this day to reaffirm our commitment to building a nation where every citizen can thrive, where our unique culture is cherished, and where we continue to strive for a brighter tomorrow. Happy 63rd Independence Day to all my fellow Trinbagonians! �
