Patient satisfaction is gradually increasing in the laparoscopic surgery process, which provides similar therapeutic results by providing cosmetic advantages with special techniques that avoid laparotomy. For this reason, in this scientific title, the serious benefits of laparoscopic surgery, which is used in the diagnosis and treatment stages, will be given to the patient and the surgeon, and studies that show that it is a safe laparoscopic method will be presented. Dr. Akimasa Nakao obtained his M.D. degree at Nagoya University in 1973. After completing surgical residency, he started his career as a surgeon at Department of Surgery II, Nagoya University since 1980. He was appointed Professor and Chairman in 1999 and served in that role until 2011. He retired from the position of the full professor, and became Emeritus Professor of Nagoya University in 2011. He currently served as president of Nagoya Central Hospital. His main clinical and scientific interest is the field of gastroenterological surgery, especially pancreatic cancer surgery. In his clinical research he developed a portal vein bypass using antithrombogenic catheter in 1981, and applied it surgical practice.

He established new operative methods in this filed such as isolated pancreatoduodenectomy using mesenteric approach, pancreatic head resection with segmental duodenectomy (PHRSD) and other new function-preserving surgical procedures. His works are internationally published in over 558 journals, 20 book chapters. He was the congress president of Japan Surgical Society (2010) and Japan Pancreas Society (2010).

Dr. Viorel Scripcariu is a licensed general surgeon, practicing surgery since 1988, with special interests in surgical oncology and colore**al surgery. He is the Rector of the Grigore T Popa University of Medicine and Pharmacy Iasi, Romania. He is Doctor Honoris Causa, awarded in 2019 by the Nicolae Testemitanu University of Medicine and Pharmacy Chișinau, Republic of Moldova. Since 2010 he is PhD supervisor, with a total of 11 PhD completed theses to date.

The scientific activity of Professor Viorel Scripcariu sums up to a total of over 70 scientific papers in international journals, with an H-index of 7, according to Thomson ISI Web of Science and a total of 18 publications such as monographies and textbook contributions and editing activity, including subjects as surgery of the esophagus, colore**al surgery, and endocrine surgery. His professional activity includes over 1000 cases of re**al cancer, 500 cases of gastric cancer, and surgery of the esophagus, adrenal glands and thyroid.
