Casting Call for "The Wake"
We’re looking for actors to join the cast of "The Wake," a powerful and immersive theatre production that’s as raw as it is real. The show opens in April 2025 in Thailand, with a second run planned for July 2025 in the UK.
"The Wake" invites the audience into the chaos and vulnerability of a memorial gathering. It’s messy, it’s honest, and it’s full of everything grief brings out—love, regret, laughter, and pain. Together, the characters and audience untangle the complex truths of their relationships with Alex, whose death leaves questions that can’t be easily answered.
This is not just a performance—it’s an experience, blending scripted scenes with improvisation and audience interaction.
What We’re Looking For
We need actors who can bring emotional depth and authenticity to their roles. Improvisation is a big part of this production, so you should be comfortable thinking on your feet and connecting with the audience in real time.
The script is still a work in progress, and as part of the cast, you’ll help shape it during rehearsals. Your voice and creativity will be part of making this play what it’s meant to be.
Roles Available:
Samantha (Alex’s Partner): Late 30s–Early 40s. Grieving and guilt-ridden, trying to keep everything together while struggling with the weight of responsibility.
Jamie (Alex’s Sibling): Mid 30s–Early 40s. Bitter, angry, and carrying unresolved family tensions that threaten to explode.
Morgan (Alex’s Best Friend): Mid 30s–Early 40s. The peacekeeper who hides their own pain behind humor and practicality.
Beth (Alex’s Ex): Early–Mid 30s. Quiet and reflective, carrying old wounds but offering fresh perspectives.
Riley (Alex’s Child): Late Teens–Early 20s. Quietly strong, with an emotional clarity that surprises the group.
Reverend Jones Late 40s–Mid 50s. A warm, steady presence who tries to guide the group while wrestling with their own doubts.
Joyce (Alex’s Grandmother): Late 60s–Early 80s. Wise and reflective, with a strong connection to Alex’s childhood. Eleanor brings generational perspective and quiet strength but isn’t afraid to challenge the others when needed.
