Every now and then,
taking a trip down memory lane reminds me
of why partying became such a major part of my life.
It sounds cliché in these modern times where fashion “ravers” only care about how cool they appear on socials
— carefully chosen rave uniforms, practiced dance moves to belong (lol), and corporate events that couldn’t be more remote from the essence of this movement.
(Yes, I call it a movement — a peaceful rebellion against the status quo)
It is all about UNITY — people from all walks of life joined to dance the night away,
to heal, to let go, to express themselves,
sometimes diving deep into a dark corner of the mind on a dancefloor and DEALING with it as a healing event.
There was no “woke movement” enforcing unity and diversity because you HAVE TO…
No — we all understood these basic principles of being a DECENT human being without saying it, without forceful virtue signalling.
If someone “fell out of the boat”, we helped them back on board, because we are all in this together.
We just ARE united through music and dance…
Ready to let go of your ego,
your preconditioned mind,
what others may think of you.
It goes all the way back to tribalism,
people gathered to dance into a trance state of mind to drums & rhythms,
for as long as was needed to heal the soul,
to unite the tribe.
I try to not go on one of my traditional rants about those kinda “ravers” and “organisers”.
I proved my point often enough:
they are of no positive value and will soon be standing alone in their ego castles in the sky, blowing air up their own arses while getting charged for arriving late at an already overpriced BS snobs event.
What matters most to me is to bring back this no-nonsense mentality;
freedom of expression through music & dance,
outside the traditional box of dancefloor expectations.
The dancefloor needs to be educated, to create a safe zone to release and rebuild… to take the audience out of their comfort zone.
How else can you fix your darkness if you don’t face it?
LET’S FOCUS AGAIN ON THE ART, THE PEOPLE, THE SOUL.
In times when all you see is division and destruction,
WE NEED UNITY MORE THAN EVER!
