Why free workshop/ classes are disrespectful to Dance Teacher career!!!!
⸻
I normally don’t speak about things like this… but today I feel I must.
Many people see a dance teacher smiling, dressing beautifully, moving gracefully. What they don’t see are the years behind that smile.
The early mornings.
The injuries.
The tears after losing competitions.
The money invested — more than a million baht — into professional training, private coaching, travel, costumes, exams, certifications.
The pressure of representing your country in championships.
The responsibility of teaching correctly and safely.
Being a qualified dance teacher is not a hobby. It is a lifetime commitment.
We study technique. We train under world champions. We earn teaching certificates. We build experience step by step. We respect the law. We apply for proper licenses. We work legally. We pay our dues.
So it is painful — truly painful — to see someone who learned a few moves from festivals, who can dance socially, come to Hua Hin and organize free workshops or classes without proper qualifications or legal work permits.
Dance is beautiful. Sharing is beautiful.
But teaching is responsibility. Teaching is professionalism. Teaching is a career.
When someone treats it casually, it doesn’t only affect income — it affects the value of the profession. It affects the respect for those who sacrificed so much to build this path.
As a Thai professional working hard in Hua Hin, I am proud of my journey. I am proud of every hour trained, every competition danced, every student I guide.
I simply hope that our community supports quality, respects professionalism, and understands that behind every real dance teacher… there is a lifetime of dedication.
Let’s build a dance community based on respect — for the art, for the law, and for each other. 💛💃🏻
