✅ Eligibility
Applicants must be citizens of ASEAN Member States aged 16–25.
The competition language is English.

📝 Application Process
First Round
- Complete the application form and submit a 3-minute speech video by 30 September 2026 at 23:59 hrs (GMT+7) via the link → https://forms.gle/vum5vwzow6UN8nAL7
- The speech must be delivered from memory. Reading notes is not permitted.
- The video must not include animations or graphic presentations.
- Record in a quiet environment to ensure clear audio. Videos with inaudible sound will not be eligible for resubmission and will result in disqualification.
- Past winners of this contest are not eligible to apply.
Final Round
- Only shortlisted candidates will proceed to the Final Round.
- Finalists may reuse parts of their original submission in their final speech.
- Each finalist must deliver a 5-minute speech in front of a panel of judges on-site on Sunday 15 November 2026 at Sustainability Expo 2026, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC), Bangkok.
- For finalists residing outside Bangkok, the organizer will cover round-trip economy airfare (up to USD 200) and one night’s accommodation in Bangkok (14 November 2026).
- Finalists who cannot attend the Final Round in Bangkok on 15 November 2026 will be disqualified.

ASEAN Connectivity Through Stories Workshop: Storytelling Through Photography

How can a photograph help a community tell its story? C asean Lanna recently explored this question through “Storytelling Through Photography: Empowering Communities Through Visual Communication,” part of the ASEAN Connectivity Through Stories program.

Led by Mr. Tul Hiranyalawan, President of the Royal Photographic Society of Thailand (RPST) and an expert in creative photography and visual storytelling, and an expert in creative photography and visual storytelling, the workshop began with a visual journey through some of his previous works. Using photographs from the Portrait of Charoenkrung project as examples, Khun Tul showed how a single image can reveal the identity, people, and stories behind a community, helping participants better understand the power of photography as a storytelling tool.

The workshop then introduced practical approaches to developing a Photo Story, from finding a community’s core story and creating meaningful compositions to using light, moments, and visual context to convey emotion and meaning.

Bringing together representatives from local communities and students, the workshop provided an opportunity to work with real images and receive expert feedback through a hands-on Photo Clinic, helping participants strengthen how they communicate their communities’ identity and stories.

The workshop highlighted how strong visual storytelling can amplify local voices, create new opportunities, and connect community stories from local to regional audiences.

A photograph can capture a moment, but a powerful story can carry it far beyond its place of origin. By strengthening communities’ ability to tell their own stories, we can amplify local voices and build connections from local to regional.

Held as part of the ASEAN Day 2026 program, C asean Forum 2026 (CaF 2026), under the theme “Resilient ASEAN: Connectivity as a Competitive Advantage,” brought together leaders and experts at C asean Auditorium, Bangkok, Thailand, on 7 August 2026, to explore how connectivity can strengthen ASEAN’s economic, social, and physical resilience.

CaF 2026 reinforced that connectivity extends beyond physical links between countries—it is a foundation for collaboration, competitiveness, resilience, and shared progress across ASEAN.

As ASEAN marks its 59th anniversary, the ASEAN Day 2026 program, held on 6-7 August 2026 at Casean, Bangkok, Thailand, brought together diverse voices to celebrate the region's journey, strengthen connections, and look toward a shared future.

The program featured inspiring youth voices and meaningful exchanges, highlighting the importance of connectivity—not only across economies and borders, but also among people, cultures, ideas, and communities. The event reflected a shared commitment to collaboration for the better of ASEAN's connectivity.

As part of the ASEAN Connectivity Through Stories program, C asean Lanna recently hosted “Stories Across Borders: The Thailand–Myanmar Connection,” exploring how storytelling can connect people, cultures, and shared histories.

Featuring Chartchai Ketnust, director and producer of From Chao Phraya to Irrawaddy and other works exploring Thailand–Myanmar connections, in conversation with Assistant Professor Wathit Thummachoe, lecturer of Thai Literature, Chiangmai Rajabhat University, the discussion explored shared histories and cultural connections between Thailand and Myanmar, and how storytelling can open new perspectives and deepen understanding across borders.

Through stories created across languages, cultures, and borders, the conversation also highlighted the opportunities and challenges of cross-cultural storytelling. It brought together students from diverse fields, members of the Myanmar community, academics, and storytellers from theatre and novel writing for a meaningful exchange of perspectives.

For the next generation of storytellers, the message was clear: use storytelling to unlock emotions, foster understanding across cultures and ethnicities, and create with love and respect for cultural differences.

Because ASEAN connectivity is not only about borders—it is about the stories we share, the understanding we build, and the connections that bring us closer.

ภาพยนตร์ ละคร และสารคดีไม่ได้เพียงบอกเล่าเรื่องราว แต่ยังช่วยพาเราข้ามพรมแดนไปทำความเข้าใจประวัติศาสตร์ ผู้คน และวัฒนธรรมที่เชื่อมโยงกัน
