Cooking classes available from Friday this week, we've had some wonderful families cook with us recently, and it's especially rewarding to see young people getting so involved, asking great questions, and learning new skills that will help them in life going forward. This young lady can now cook fabulous Thai food for her friends and family when she gets home :) We're different to some other offerings in that we run small classes, which means lots of one-on-one tuition, and we take our time in order to give you a first-rate culinary experience. We’re not far from Graceland, Grand Mercure, Haadson Resort, Le Meridien, Bangsak Village, Outrigger, Avani +, Robinson Khao Lak, Beyond KhaoLak, TUI Blue Mai Khao Lak and The Sarojin. The Haven Khao Lak, Devasom Khao Lak, Apsara Beachfront Khaolak, The Pullman and JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa are a bit further away, and The Sands Khao Lak, X10 Khaolak Resort, The Waters Khao Lak, Ramada, La Vela and the in-town hotels are further south. You can eat what you've cooked at our beachfront tables, or under the trees, or inside our restaurant. We also have a good selection of beverages, including wine & prosecco etc, and there's no rush to leave, so you can maybe enjoy a massage at Jutamas Health Spa, or a coffee at the famous Garang Artisan Icecream & Coffee House where celebs hang out, both of these are next door, or have a stroll along the beach or our tree-lined beachfront area and check out the wildlife, before we take you back.

Incredible, totally authentic, rarely seen, local religious ceremony with trance-like respect for, and honouring of the God before walking it into the sea this morning, right next to our restaurant on Bangsak Beach. Local people attended, but no tourists witnessed this, as it's not on their radar, partly because of people relying on AI to create an itinerary, so-called "influencers" who are not even in Khao Lak, and on-line offers that only promote the most popular tourist activities according to their algorithm, so only the highest-trending activities, which tend to appeal to the herd mentality, get noticed. Some people who choose all-inclusive, and/or spend a lot of time in their resort, will not be aware of this either. Sad really, as people are missing out on the real Thailand and the most amazing local culture, right on their doorstep. The simple solution is to get out and about, eat where the locals eat, and talk to local people. Bangsak Beach is where you can do this, not just at our restaurant, but other family-run places too, that have been here for decades and are the life-blood of our local community. We're planning some talks on local culture, and the history of Khao Lak, PM us for more info. ** UPDATE (19 July) we've had a few comments about our thoughts on part of the reason no tourists saw this, which includes the way that tourism is moving, such as all-inclusive (which means people spend more time in resorts, and less time out and about) and that mainstream activities are so visible, especially when boosted by Artificial Intelligence, which means that less popular activities are harder to spot, or don't get seen at all. Another reason no tourists saw this is because it was unannounced, and they arrived out of the blue, and left immediately they were finished. Yes, we could have posted it, but anyone more than a few minutes away would have missed most or all of it, and we were too engrossed in watching that posting wasn't on our mind. But we will try and give as much notice as possible for future events.

If you’re coming in high season, PM us with a range of dates that you’d like to come please as we already have bookings well into next year. We're different to some other offerings in that we run very small classes, which means lots of one-on-one tuition, and we take our time in order to give you a first-rate culinary experience where you will learn a lot. For example, we teach you to make dishes from scratch, we don’t use MSG, and we only use the finest ingredients. You are encouraged to take notes and pictures/videos so you can look back on your new-learned skills which will enable you to delight your friends and family when you cook for them at home. We pick up from your hotel after breakfast around 09.45 (you are, afterall, on holiday, so no need to get up early or miss breakfast), and we take you to the market for a tour and show you local produce that we use. This is one of our indoor birthday dining options and is a great alternative to our beachfront tables during the green (rainy) season, you can also have a Thai cooking class on your birthday or anniversary and eat what you’ve just cooked for lunch or dinner. We're a bit different to some other offerings, we run very small classes, which ensures lots of one-on-one tuition, and we take our time in order to give you a bespoke culinary experience where you will learn a lot, and you will be able to take your new-learned skills home and delight your friends and family when you cook for them at home. We pick up from your hotel around 09.45, take you to the market for a tour and show you local produce that we use, then we go onto our place, and we take you back in the afternoon once you've eaten what you've cooked, which can be at our beachfront tables, or under the trees, or inside our restaurant. Fabulous festival this weekend on Bangsak Beach, next to our restaurant, the beachfront parking is already full, but our car park is available free of charge for any old friends and anyone coming for lunch or dinner, as you come down the first approach road to Bangsak Beach from the highway, our car park entrance is just before the beachfront road on the right, the green sign says Kate's Kitchen Customer Parking
